Hotel Riu Yucatan - All Inclusive

5th visit to this fabulous hotel. Hadn’t been for 4 years due to husband being terminally ill. It didn’t disappoint, fantastic welcome from Alfredo in reception, asked for a room in a block where we had always stayed, no problem. Room very clean and cleaned daily, with fresh towels. The gardens are beautifully kept and are well tended. There is food available to cater for everyone’s taste, my daughter and I loved the steak house, only problem was a wait between courses but the setting, right by the beach is gorgeous. We also loved the Asian restaurant, (although it was closed in 3 occasions, but according to the app it was open) which was very disappointing. The waiter Vicente, was fabulous, attention to detail and his kindness and thoughtfulness was second to nine. In the main buffet restaurant we sat at tables that Marin served, again a really lovely attentive waiter. All the staff at the bars are lovely, if they don’t know a drink, (which is unusual) tell them and they will make it. We had no issues at the beach getting a subbed, if we didn’t see any, a member of staff, quickly found us some and placed them where we wanted them. Only disappointment was on Fridays when there are neon an£ white partied the the Tequila Hotel, the bars near the beach were closed, we liked to sit by the beach, with a drink but the only bar open was the main bar, which busy and noisy. Cant wait to come back to my home from home

Back from a week at Riu Yucatan and had a great time. Playacar is a gated community with villas, hotels and a few shops and anyone entering needs to show a wrist band so it is a pretty safe area. We were in Block 3 which was next to the main building and a 2 min walk to the main pool/beach. The room was cleaned every day with fresh towels changed and had a fridge packed with beers and soft drinks and although we didn't use it there was an optics cabinet with vodka, gin, tequila and rum. There's a great choice for eating with Asian, Italian, Mexican and Steakhouse speciality dining along with the buffet restaurant and a poolside snack bar for burgers, chips, etc. We never tried it but there is also a snack bar open through the night. You don't have to book any of the restaurants, just first come first served. Only once was there a wait but we just went to another restaurant. There is a wide choice of lunch and dinner options in the two buffet restaurants with everything from salads to tacos and curries. There are several bars where you can get a beer or the cocktail of your choice or the staff will make up something special for you. You can be as active or inactive as you want. The entertainment staff work tirelessly throughout the day with various pool activities and dart, table tennis, beach football, volleyball and pool foam parties then shows at night ranging from Karaoke and Mexican singers to silent discos and stage shows. There are also weekly white/neon parties at the neighbouring Riu Tequila hotel and you can use the facilities in this and the Riu Playacar. The main street of Playa Del Carmen, Fifth Avenue, is a short taxi ride away and cost 150 Pesos. We walked along about 1.5 miles and the return fair was 250 Pesos. If you don't fancy going to Fifth Avenue there is a small shopping centre 5 mins along the street.

Me and my mum stayed here for 11 nights and loved every minute of it. The main attraction to us was the onsite beach location! Despite the seaweed issues that Mexico has, we couldn't fault the beach, or the hotel for that matter. Clean rooms, plenty of choice in the restaurants, and very friendly and polite staff, especially the cleaners which you don't see everywhere! Loved having the animals roaming around too, it made it even more authentic and had a good feel to the hotel and surrounding area. A short walk gets you to a nice nearby shopping area which we felt fairly safe doing so being two women together, and a short taxi away to Playa del Carmen. Highly recommend this hotel/location!

Absolutely fantastic. Food was better than any previous Riu we've visited. Fun wildlife running around the grounds. Great pools, staff and nice big beach.

Great trip for a family vacation! Everyone was so kind and a big shout out to our bartender Filiberto! We will definitely return to Riu Yucatan!
