Grand Hotel Miramare

Did not like staff; very rude

Disappointed on arrival to be told there was a 'problem' with our room but we would be moved the following day. The 'problem' was double booking as we were not the only people to be told this. As the room we booked was a superior room we received lunch and drinks at the pool restaurant and a bottle of wine was left in the new room. More than compensated the difference. Our room was spacious, lovely, clean, really good AC and had a spectacular view. Breakfast was really good, large selection and plentiful. Reading previous reviews regarding the stairs to the pool, it clearly tells you this before booking. The pool was lovely, but did need a clean but we swam everyday. The pool side restaurant was excellent and staff were friendly. Excellent location across the road from the main bus station and a short 10 minute walk to Porta Messina. Spoilt for choice of restaurants .

I can’t understand the positive reviews for this hotel, we only stayed 1 night, left And managed to get into another 4 * hotel for 4 nights. The Miramare is as far from ‘Grand’ as you can possibly get, the reception staff are brusk bordering on rude, the breakfast is just acceptable, but the worst thing was it was filthy, including the green rim around the pool, our bathroom wasn’t clean at all, the shower doors were black mould in parts, the rim above the tiles was full of fluff and human hair 🤢, the furniture/curtains are well past it’s date and not clean dust, fluff and hair all over the mirror and under the bed, which hadn’t seen a mop in a long time! Sockets hanging off the wall, Only one cushion on one of the outside chairs and no divider between balconies!? We just couldn’t stop here another night, how can they justify the cost? The reception area has obviously been refurbished to lull you into a false impression, the website doesn’t reflex reality. When we complained they offered us a bottle of wine and a fruit basket?! Get your staff to clean the rooms properly and update them! A total disgrace and a stressful end to a special holiday. Avoid at all costs, you can’t sell a room/hotel on the views alone

nice hotel in good location in Taormina. Very nice staff overall, good breakfast, nice concierge giving many tips on everything in Taormina. Great view from the window as well as the terrace over the sea. Good breakfast and nice staff there. We booked via hotel site, totally uncomplicated, we'll be back! Grazie mille!

This is a beautiful property, yes it's dated in areas but we were fine with that. Our room was spacious, we had a huge patio and the AC worked well. The views from this hotel are stunning, it's located 5 minute walk from the centre of Taormina, so close enough to everything but away from the crowds. Breakfast was good and the staff at breakfast were very nice. The pool area is lovely but as mentioned by others, not for anyone with mobility issues. The downsides included the smell of cigarette smoke in the hallway every afternoon where our room was. We weren't sure if it was staff members smoking or other guests, but it was very strong. Thankfully it didn't come into our room. None of the front desk staff were helpful with anything or even remotely pleasant, which was very surprising.

Pool was filthy, spoke to the manager & he said they were aware but couldn’t afford to do anything about it?! He also said it is closing in October for 2 years to do a complete renovation. The staff did not seem to be aware of this! The staff (especially in the restaurant) were lovely The 184 steps to the pool is exhaustingYou can get a lift in a car/van or whatever is free.Told this by another visitor, the hotel don’t mention it! After having a swim in the dirty pool, once, never again!! Dodgy tummies both of us. The view is spectacular & I would advice people to spend 15€ & go to Flamingo beach. You are picked up & dropped back to the hotel plus sun beds & parasols. The restaurant at the beach was probably the best food we had all holiday! Would I go back? Let’s see if it is renovated?

Amazing location. Hotel is a little outdated and was surprised to find the rooms extremely dusty and uncared for.

The hotel is in terrible condition. It’s leaking almost every where. To reach the swimming pools you need walk by stairs up and down. The rooms are old fashioned and in terrible shape. The receptionist are unsuitable for the rate and the stars. If you wish to eat in their restaurant in the swimming pool be aware of an atrocious attack by the bees. That means the surrounding is completely dirty and abandoned. I am so sorry to write That but it is the reality. I can say if you can avoid to go and you are a family….be aware of my points. I wish one day the owners should upgrade the hotels and should offer a better condition in regard the asking price for one night. It’s shame to overlook that in our beautiful Taormina such business man has not learn how to get the best of the business reception in the hotel. I feel very sorry and I look forward other clients the rate the building as me.

Lovely hotel. Convenient to the bus, but not to from the center. We had a room with a balcony, which was stunning.

Great location and with a sea view room, spectacular views
