Roman Way Hotel A5 Cannock

First impression was dead flowers in the reception area. My first room was not good enough for a dog to sleep in. When I was moved to a so called refurbished room it was no better. Both rooms had dirty carpets that had not been hoovered for a very long time. No telephone to contact reception. Toilets didn’t flush. Bathroom full of mould. Teacups with no saucers. Curtains hanging off the rails. Lampshades filthy and at an angle. Holes in the wall filled and not painted. Absolutely disgusting. I agree totally with every other reviewer who has given a poor review. It was a disgrace. Do not stay there even if you are desperate.

Didn't like anything about this hotel. The room we were first given had flooring that was more black staining than brown carpet. The second room we were given had a bathroom with broken tiles on the floor, a hole behind the taps, broken edging around the toilet surround, and generally bad and botched DIY type decorating. The general areas were tired, mucky and unwelcoming, with a broken window. We were staying only two nights and put up with it because we were seeing relatives and hadn't been able to book another hotel close enough.

On arrival the hotel looks really nice and when entering the reception the staff were friendly and the area looked presentable, however on entering the room again on first looks everything seemed fine until entering the bathroom, where there was one hand towel and one bath towel, not very appropriate for a couple. The bed looked big and inviting but unfortunately the pillows looked very small in comparison, the bed itself made a lot of noise and the mattress was uncomfortable. The room I booked online looked nothing like the room we had. And on the morning between 6am and 8am we found the other customers very noisy shouting to each other and to be honest it reminded me of living in Walsall where the neighbours used to scream in the streets after a night out, I don't know what it is with people nowadays but they certainly didn't care if other people were still sleeping. On the whole the hotel is clean and tidy, however comfort value is lacking, some advice would be to make sure you know how many towels you need for customers, change the overly used mattresses and put some signs up telling people to keep quiet when checking out or going for breakfast.This is a £30 a night hotel at best. I felt overcharged.

Our room was the very last room in the hotel so it was abit of a hike to get to but the hotel staff were very welcoming and the hotel was very bright but was very old fashioned. When we got to the hotel out key got stuff but the reception was very quick to come and help. The beds were super comfy. The hotel is good for a 2 night stay but not for longer. There are loads of restaurants nearby which was so handy. I reccomend this hotel

Very disappointed smelt, cleanliness was bad mould on bathroom, tiles missing, carpet had not been hoovered dusty. For £95 a night it was a joke. False advertising said you could eat there which we was told we couldn't

Room walls could have been cleaned. In parts it had streaks of blood or some other bodily marks???? In general was value for money

'Bates' Motel', but with friendlier staff. Shabby, grubby and understaffed. Only stayed because Premier Inns were full.Rated as 3 star but it is not. The one member staff did their best. The rooms are miles away from reception which did not suit my 87 year old mother. However, the pervading waft of marijuana through the corridors helped to carry her through.
