Roman Way Hotel A5 Cannock

Check-in was friendly & polite. The hotel in general was tired & needed a spruce up, but the room was disgusting! A damp, musty smell as you walked in. Dirty carpet with holes in. Dirt & debris on the bed linen. The bathroom wasn't any cleaner, mildew/mould all over the tiles. I checked out & stayed in a hotel up the road, the staff did offer to move me to another room but by this point I just wanted to stay elsewhere. They also wanted to offer me a refund but couldn't because it needed to be authorised from head office.

Didn’t get a wink of sleep due to the two rooms next to us having an all night session

Only issue i was cold at night sitting in my room had to put a fleece on no heating on all night , but it came on in the morning when i was leaving

The Roman Way is ideally situated for main roads, motorways and shops. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The rooms are spacious, although a little tired.

On arrival at property check in appeared normal.. On entering room the first thing noticed was the curtains which were quite literally falling off. On going to turn heating up it was cold night with snow, found not to be working. Telephoned the number given on information sheet and advised the person of the problem. When receptionist arrived she explained that the boiler had just broken.. Whether this was the case could be argued as it appeared that the radiator needed bleeding. We were taken to another room where the heating was working which seemed strange that only part of the building boiler broken. The room was cleaner and tidier looking than the original room. The bathroom stank of smoke although meant to be no smoking and there were no toiletries. Due to weather conditions no option but to stay. The following morning after checking out the pathway was not cleared and the car park was iced over. Making it dangerous underfoot and to manoeuvre car out. The hotel was informed of concerns. Originally ignoring contact until contacted by Expedia and then message received saying the message will be passed to management who will respond. Nothing. I would not recommend hotel.

There was no shower gel or shampoo in the shower and we we roasting as the heating was on full blast and we couldn’t turn it down. Room 114.

Lovely and cosy lobby and bar area. Staff were amazing, especially Lisa - she was a gem! Rooms could do with a bit of upgrading and a kick of paint. But overall a pleasurable stay for the money.

Room was in a different postcode to reception telly didn’t work there was no hot water from the shower and took 5 mins to open the faulty room door
