Mercure Bedford Centre Hotel

Location close to city centre

Air conditioning not up to the job and the hotel bar closed bang on 11pm. Room was nice and spacious, clean and the bathroom likewise.

Simple things let it down but overall good. Rooms and food are excellent Breakfast especially good Bad points One working lift for an 8 storey hotel lost track of how much time I spent waiting for lifts Room card needed to be reactivated every day rather than set for the whole five day stay Absolutely shambolic check in. Calling people from the back of the queue who wanted to book a room rather than the next person in line Good points Rooms Food Location In general very good but simple things let it down, would stay again though positives definitely outweigh the negatives

Was expecting a sofa in the room rather than an armchair

The breakfast and the breakfast room staff were very good and friendly respectively.

The room with a dangerous leaking AC unit down on top of electrics . 1st night sleepless with fear and emptying pint glasses of water placed under the dripping AC to stop the electrics getting wet . Whe. I brought it to front desks attention in the morning I was offered a room change to a SMALLER , hall stenched room with no bath(OHH AND 2 FREE DRINKS -- WHAT A JOKE) I refused and we were left in A dangerous room for 3 nights WITB NO FURTHER CORRESPONDENCE . I Had to move my sons bed away from dangerous area and empty the dripped filled glasses every 90 mins . The purpose of our trip was to enable my son to compete ay the Bradford International athletes stadium on. Monday FRESH AND WELL RESTED. Well that CERTAINLY DIDNT HAPPEN. IT WAS UNBELIEVABLE THAT ONLY WHEN I DISCUSSED THE MATTER AND SHOWED THE VIDEOS OF THE LEAKING UNIT FOR THE 5TH TIME DID I RECIEVE AN APOLOGY FOR THE INCONVENIENCE. AND BELIEVE ME THAT WOULDN'T HAVE HAPPENED EITHER IF I HADN'T BROUGHT THE LACK OF APOLOGY TO SAME MANAGERS ATTENTION. DREADFUL SERVICE AND I CERTAINALLY AM LOOKING FOR SOME RECOMPENSE

Very comfy bed, relaxing views, really gives a new perspective to Bedford if you're local. The bar area was very calm and lovely when we went in the evening, the drinks were average price, not too steep. We didn't have a chance to try the food, but we may do it next time :) Nice coffee machines in the Privilege rooms also!

(Privilege rooms): The windows were quite mucky from our room's perspective on floor 4, but a stay two days later and the windows on floor 6 were clean, so I can't complain. There were no complimentary drinks on our first stay, whereas there were on the second stay. Some stains on the curtains, which could do with a clean, especially being the "privilege" rooms. Some small changes and it would be ten out of ten for sure :)

Room was a good size and comfortable

I thought it was over priced as there was no breakfast included and I had to pay for parking too.
