The Hoban Hotel Killkenny

We booked the Hoban Hotel after seeing the good reviews on a last minute get away. While the hotel is a bit away from the hustle and bustle of Kilkenny, it is a very nice hotel. We booked a package at the hotel which included an evening 3 course course meal. Our main waiter Johnny is absolutely top class. He made the night for us and we stayed to have a few drinks in the hotel for the night instead of heading into the city due to the 5 star service that Johnny provided. I wish more hotels had staff like Johnny. He was patient and really informative at the same time and his work ethic is second to none.

Great service from Dez and great food! This was our first stop in Ireland after leaving Dublin and we are so glad we ended up here! 10/10 recommend!

This hotel was fine, but a ways outside of town and located next to a shopping mall. Set up for business conventions. But the room was spacious, bed comfortable and a good shower. A bit noisy but our room was right above the front door.

Our stay at The Hoban Hotel was very comfortable. The bed was just right, and the shower was superb! I would recommend to the hotel that they install stronger fans to reduce the humidity in the bathroom, and to discourage smokers from smoking right outside the building (our window was open and someone at the front entrance sent smoke right up into our room). The staff were very friendly and we appreciated the excellent Continental breakfast options.

Teresa checked us in & gave us a special Irish welcome! She gave us tips for visiting the city centre of Kilkenny & lots of local tips. Nice room, clean, friendly staff. Late night Bartender (tall guy) was very helpful & professional

The room was nice and clean with a modern feel. The bed was two dingles pushed together and the bottom sheet did not fit. This was annoying as we were staying for two nights. The bathroom was small and the door automatically shoot at rapid speed which always hit you as you entered the bathroom, this was very uncomfortable especially at night.

Really enjoyed my recent stay at the Hoban Hotel. The staff were so nice and helpful and the rooms were clean, bright and very modern. A pleasure to stay here and looking forward to the next visit already!

We arrived at the Hoban Hotel in Kilkenny on 9/6/2025 and found a real mess. For starters, the Hoban exteriors looked very run down and old. Like a fallout zone on the side of a busy highway. We examined the room and found old and dated furnishings and few of these. The box frame for the bed had smeared with something brown and gross and the room had a rank odor that drove the Mrs. Out into the hall. Upon further, examination, we realized there was no AC and the windows were cracked open for ventilation. So now I had a stinky, gross, unsafe road noise filled room! Went to front desk. The initial response from the hotel desk clerk was no refund due to it being less than 48 hrs before deadline. They offered us another ground floor room. Mostly same condtions. Finally got them to refund the price minus a fee and told us that we had to get the money back from Expedia because we paid Expedia.
