Shurland Hotel

The property badly needed updating, the room was well below what you'd expect from a 3* hotel and the facilities were poor. The bed headrest had been repaired with electrical tape, the fixtures and fittings were old and in poor condition and the whole place looked like it needed to be refitted. The only positive was the price but on reflection you get what you pay for. I wouldn't stay again and wouldn't reccomend.

Would have awarded 0 stars if the site had let me. The hotel management refused to refund a room fee that had been booked in error. The room was dated, bathroom was dirty and walls had peeling paint. The bed was incredibly uncomfortable and provided little support. Please, please, please don’t waste your time with the Shurland Hotel.

The room was clean but a tad outdated! The tv was so small you would have to have extremely good eyesight to see it. The bed was very comfortable. Thats the only good thing I can say sadly. Air conditioning unit underneath my room window comes on and off every few minute, all night! Needed to have ear plugs. Noise from the other rooms really was much louder than expected. A couple in a room on my floor spent many hours arguing, shouting, swearing I ask them to please be quiet as other people need to sleep ! Had to get reception to intervene. This had no impact on their behaviour. I paid for continental breakfasts x 5 don’t waste your money, cheap croissants, cheap white bread, slowest toaster ever. Luke Warm water, orange juice had run out and not replaced. Worst night sleep I have had in a hotel. Complained to the manager and have had to call four time as no calls are returned, after booking three rooms at this hotel I expect a much better customer service especially from the manager! Shocking hospitality! Definitely would not stay again.

The room to start with had a really bad smell , I had to go and buy some febreeze to spray the room , the carpet had stains all over it and there was thick dust in the corners of the room. Toilet paper was cheap and could see your hand threw it, the bed was not comfy and had no spare pillows also the lights around the mirror did not work so was getting ready in the dark and overall the hotel itself is very out dated

Terrible experience from start to finish. No available / visible reception staff upon arrival and staff were unresponsive to the bell / landline for over 20 mins upon arrival at circa 4:30 in the afternoon. No apology when I finally tracked someone down- it was as if I have inconvenienced them! The room - stuffy, smelly, no aircon or fan, bed like a banana (so uncomfortable), no shower gel and bedside lamp useless for anyone that likes some night-time reading/ ambience due to no on/off option beyond getting out of bed to turn the lamp on/off at the wall. I am not a TV lover, but many people use this as a way to unwind - the TV was mounted on the wall and tiny in size/ poor sound and volume - my laptop is bigger. If you are some how able to relax in the banana bed, the room was very noisy due to traffic at all times including 5:30am on the main road and rowdy pub clients screaming and swearing across the road until late evening. Breakfast is a joke - they 'don’t cater for vegetarians' but refused to refund the breakfast money. Terrible experience from start to finish. Everything reported to the staff team on day 1 without suitable resolutions. The maintenance team supposedly came and fixed the bed day 2 but it made no difference for the remaining 2 nights (very uncomfortable- terrible Mattress ). On the final night of my stay a broken (health an safety risk) fan was finally delivered to the room and a vegetarian breakfast was offered … I would not trust eating in this place after my experiences here over the past few days and was not going to use the broken fan for fear of more parts snapping off and causing injury. I didn't make any photos (beyond the fan mentioned above) I could not check out quick enough today. Do NOT stay here. Do not waste your money. I booked through a corporate travel company and have also recommended that they remove this 'hotel' from their list of suitable accommodation. It was impossible to relax whether you are travelling for work or pleasure.

Pillows all dirty and stained 2 in one case as all very flat and old,mattress very dirty and worn out they had padded it with old bits of foam and mattress toppers . Springs on mattress gone. Bathroom very tired and bath broken and filled with polllyfiller . Room all stank of urine . Didm’t even have breakfast included was so poor. Place very tired and dirty broken door when you enter. Please don’t waste your money very poor experience .

Let us start with the positives: The bed was one of the most comfortable ones we had slept in away from home, the staff was friendly and helpful, the meals we purchased were freshly prepared and excellent. Cleanliness was acceptable, but could be improved. Now the "niggles": The hotel is clearly in need of refurbishment. The room advertised as "deluxe" clearly was not. Shortcomings ranged from dangerous, such as the lack of a non-slip mat in a slippery bath, to annoying, such as the lack of racks to dry towels. Here is a short list of other ones: No hooks to hang up potentially wet outdoor clothing, only 5 hangers in a massive wardrobe, no hand towels provided, a non-functioning TV because of a defect aerial connection, old-fashioned bath/ shower mixer taps which dripped and left limescale deposits in the bath. A negative outside the hotel's control was the location of our room no.10 which faced the Eastchurch main street with a pub directly opposite. Friday night was noisy, Saturday night even more so with loud singing up to 1 a.m. on Sunday morning. During the hours advertised there was someone on the premises all the time, but the hotel was clearly run on a shoestring and staff were often difficult to find. Another fact worth mentioning is that a continental breakfast was included in the price of the booking, but we were not aware of this fact, nor were the staff when we first asked, until they looked at the booking. A mixed experience, but overall enjoyable.

We stayed in the family room avoid if you want the window open as its right above the pub outside area and very noisy the pillows and the beds themselves are very old and uncomfortable should have been changed years ago springs are all collapsed and noisy at every move would i stay here again would i recomend to anyone else no i wouldnt
