The Windermere Rooms at The Wateredge Inn, Ambleside

Location is definitely a good thing.

The room was really tiny for the price point of £170 per night and the toilet was not positioned well. Appreciate that the place was at peak hours, and understaffed, when we arrived, but got to wait for close to 10 minutes to be checked in. The place does not have clear directions on where to go to the reception as the property is on both sides of the road.

Great location, staff hardworking and friendly, good breakfast.

The room was quiet and comfortable. We ate Dinner there, which was very good, we also had drinks, & it being by the lake edge is lovely to sit out on in the sunshine.

The shower in the bathroom was dirty, the shower head & the bottom, so didn't use it. Also the breakfast was not as good as the food the night before. We had a little, but not much, the bacon was greasy & so we just had juice and toast. Maybe it was an off day.

The location by the lake is nice, but it was completely overshadowed by the severe hygiene issues in the room.

The room's cleanliness was completely unacceptable. Upon check-in, the bedsheets were visibly dirty and stained with a clump of hair on them, and there was another clump of hair on the carpet. Due to these sanitary failures, the room was uninhabitable, and I was forced to check out the next morning, staying only 1 night instead of the planned 3 nights. Furthermore, the management's handling of this was a total evasion of responsibility. The on-site manager acknowledged the hygiene issue but shirked responsibility by claiming he lacked the system authority, telling me to contact their Head Office. However, the Head Office contact, Terry Lumb, completely ignored and refused to reply to my emails, while the hotel secretly rejected my amendment request on the platform to wrongfully withhold payment for the 2 unused nights. This is a severe breach of the UK Consumer Rights Act 2015. A formal dispute has been escalated to UK Trading Standards and my bank for a credit card chargeback.
