"A solid 4 but not quite a 5"

8.0

A really good holiday. Couple of small issue stop it being a 5 but we really enjoyed it overall. I will list the good and the few bad for those interested. Good: - Love the hotel layout and ambiance. Better than a giant concrete block style hotel. - Generally the hotel did not feel overcrowded like some big hotels can feel. - Pools themselves were not too busy - Pools are super clean - The watersports place at the neaby beach (not affiliated to the hotel) was great - Staff work very hard - Good selection of food and drink in the all inclusive package. Beer was decent. - Family annex room as a good size and nice view of the sea Bad: - 3 euros a night for use of the room safe does not feel like all-inclusive. Especially if you are staying to 10-14 nights it can add up. - Lots of loud music till 2 or 3am in the hotel next door. Nothing the hotel can do about this but it is something to bear in mind if you like your sleep! - Sunbed policy was a bit confusing. They say you are not alowed to leave towels unattended for more than an hour (which would be great) but lots of people do so we found it hard to get a sunbed. Then when we tried getting up early to reserve one they took our towels away, so I guess the only police it sometimes. - Food quality can be patchy - Wine in the all-inclusive is not great

"The spa is amazing 🥲"

10.0

I cannot recommend the spa at Silva Beach enough! From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with such warmth by Valentina at reception – she made me feel instantly comfortable and welcome. Everything was explained clearly, and her friendly manner set the perfect tone for the experience. My massage was with Antony, and it was truly one of the most relaxing treatments I’ve ever had. He has an incredible technique that melts away tension while still making you feel completely at ease. The whole experience was calming, professional, and left me feeling renewed. The prices are very reasonable, especially considering the quality of service. It really feels like great value for money. What stood out the most is how they make you feel right at home – nothing rushed or impersonal, just genuine care and relaxation from start to finish. If you’re staying at Silva Beach or even nearby, I’d highly recommend booking yourself in. This spa is a hidden gem that deserves every bit of praise!

"Back and leg issues."

10.0

The staff at the spa were very friendly and helpful. I explained the problems I am having with my back and legs and they offered some great treatments. The treatment I received was excellent, and I am already feeling much better. I would highly recommend to anybody to go and get a massage there. The spa was also very clean and tidy and I found it very relaxing. I

"Definitely not 4 star"

6.0

Unfortunately, this experience was not a very good one. Immediately upon checking in we were asked to give €100 per person deposit due to recent “destructive behaviour” caused by other young guests. This was not stated upon booking and a very rude way of being welcomed at 1am. The hotel itself is in a lovely location next to a stunning beach and not far at all from other shops and restaurants, which was a lucky bonus. There are three pools, one saltwater pool next to the romantic bar. One normal pool further down near the beach and next to the pool bar. And then down on the beach there was an ocean pool surrounded by rocks, but still with access to the ocean. These pools were all lovely, however it was very very difficult to get sun loungers as people would leave towels on them all day, and a fair few wouldn’t even show up but we were too nice to move them ourselves. The food was shocking most days which we were very disappointed about. There was mostly no variety and the quality of the food was mostly poor, forcing us to eat out most nights, which when you’ve already spent so much on the holiday it’s not ideal to have to eat out every night. The drinks were good and they had a decent selection of cocktails and were not made weak. However, the beer was not very good. The rooms were just about adequate, however the bathroom is tiny and barely any room in the shower, which caused me to have a few bumps on the shower handle as there really was no space. The staff were mostly nice and welcoming, and engaged in conversation often. There were only a small variety of staff who were a little bit ignorant and rude, however this was not too big of a deal. The entertainment at this hotel was poor, which made the evenings drag a little bit and resulted in a fair few of early nights. And there was very limited seating which was not ideal. Despite the hotel itself being disappointing, we still had a lovely holiday as we made the most out of it that we could. As I said before, there are loads of bars, shops and restaurants within a 20 minute walking distance both directions from the hotel which were all lovely. This hotel is ideal if you are planning on being out and about most days, but I definitely would not recommend if you are looking for a hotel-based holiday as it just does not seem worth it.

"Very lovely but could be better"

8.0

Just back from a lovely stay here and overall really can’t complain. I had been a bit nervous from some of the recent reviews but we were happy with our stay relative to the price and I would definitely return to the area but perhaps not the hotel. On the good points contrary to some reviews; - sunbeds - we did always manage to get one (sometimes only just) although we were at the quieter upper pool and went straight after an early breakfast but the non reserve policy was not consistently enforced. Room - yes slightly dated and could do with a lick of paint in places but I would say for an all inclusive it was perfectly adequate and most importantly cleaned consistently every day Balcony - ours was a decent size and again fine for what we needed, however I could see from looking around why some people may be dissatisfied as some were very small and looked like you couldn’t comfortably get 2 people sat at the table especially if you have towels etc to dry too Staff - Most were very friendly, especially Pety in the lounge bar, the lady who greeted us on reception and the porter who all deserve special mention. Zac at the pool bar was also very efficient and hard working Food - I mean it’s not gourmet but who expects that at an all inclusive, it was varied to suit all and the perfectly average quality you would expect and with brunch and afternoon snacks you’d certainly never go hungry. My teenager loved it but as a foodie not entirely for me so I did spend a fair bit on extra meals out Noise - we had a lovely side sea view overlooking a street and our room window overlooked the pool. On our balcony you could hear the entertainment from ours and surrounding hotels but it was never too much or offensive and no signs of trouble or rowdiness, just people having a good time as you would hope and expect on holiday but never went on til silly o’clock Area - a little overwhelming on arrival late at night and I was a tad worried at first but after a night or 2 felt very safe and the local shop owners and cafes were all lovely and get to know you and your order very quickly. If you want less rowdy I’d turn right out the hotel after dark rather than left but plenty of lovely shops and bars to see Less good points; - Drinks - I ended up spending a fortune on extra drinks as I pretty much gave up on the AI as to me they were un drinkable . The beer wasn’t too bad but wine and cocktails were awful and even the soft drinks and water had a funny chemical/almost chlorine taste. The only drink I enjoyed was the bottled water left on our room each day and the mai tails I paid extra for in the lobby bar On a plus side though you could always get free water which i know a lot of AI hotels are now charging for Entertainment - can’t comment on day as we went to the quieter pool but evening was quite dull and I would say a very restricted audience most nights. Not a problem for us as we like to go out for a wander anyway or chill and play games on the balcony but if you had kids or teens expecting a fun/lively evening they would probably be bored - Pool. Couldn’t work out any good reason the pool doesn’t open til 10. You had to be there by around 8:30 to get a bed so was quite a long time to wait for those who genuinely wanted to use the pool and not disappear for the day Food - As above was good for AI but not great for those who appreciate finer authentic cuisine so would def budget extra to eat out but that’s just my preference. If you have bland tastes or are on a budget it would be ok Grounds - absolutely beautiful and traditional but very uneven/trip hazards in places and no idea what they do to the pavement kerbs in Crete but they are also very slippery, we saw lots of people almost skidding over Sunbeds - as above although we always managed to get them it was only because we were early risers and very rarely was the reserving policy enforced Aircon - was very inconsistent and had to turn it off and on a few times at some points to try and fire some life out of it but when it did work was effective and to be fair we didnt report it as didn’t want to be a nuisance but from a couple of other minor queries/issues we had I’m confident if we had it would have been looked at To summarise, a pleasant stay we have lovely memories of. Will definitely return to Crete but would be more inclined to return to the hotel if the offered a B&B or half board option

"Good and not so good"

6.0

Good and not so good- travel with husband and 15 year old son. Arrived late at night to be seen into the wrong room that was tiny. We had booked an annexe 1 bedroom but they said they couldn’t do anything until the morning so we had to use this room with just 3 beds in it. Next day went to reception to get the correct room to be told that we could t get into that room until 7pm. I wasn’t happy about that at all so contacted tui directly who pretty sorted an in grade to a junior suite straight away. This room was nice and not sure what difference to an annexe it was but I was happy to get sorted. Some of the staff were lovely and some not so. Entertainment from thw 2 boys was good during the day with things like table tennis, pool aerobics ans volley ball which my son really enjoyed. The evening entertainment was again ok pretty basic but could have done without the karaoke but that’s personal choice. The food was again fine, nothing fancy and basically fed you. Plenty of it and the staff worked really hard to keep everything topped up. Having to que outside in the boiling heat was not good and it did few a bit like a school canteen but food ok but didn’t really change much. We booked into the Italian which was nice but the burger place was honestly disgusting! Really don’t know why they continue to serve the food when most of the tables that were cleared had full burgers u touched- really couldn’t eat any of it so swerve that! We went out locally to eat a lot and really enjoyed every meal- especially at the Home Sweet and sour across the road- Stavros and all the staff there were great and the food was excellent! Lots of lovely restaurants along the beach front to choose from and the bars were very nice too. 2 big things for us that really naffed us off was the Sunbed wars each day, having to be up and out to get a bed at 6.45am is not what we go away for but that’s what we had to do to ensure a bed (some had towels on all day and nobody actually on them) and second , the pool closes at 6pm and the guys tells everyone to get out - what’s that all about??? Can’t get in it until 10am either and this really was annoying. All of that is our personal choice and maybe perfect for others. It was clean and we given amply towels each day and the room was cleaned daily. We enjoyed our visit and relaxed which was what we wanted despite some of the disappointment.

"Kalimera Silva Beach! Thank you for a fantastic experience! 3rd time in Greece, 1st time in Crete."

10.0

Currently sat in reception not wanting to go home! After a flight delay, we arrived after midnight to very pleasant reception staff and a light meal in the fridge 😀 Laid out like a small Greek village, it pleasantly meanders through 2 pools with bars ( cheers Angela and Prety) and the restaurant to a small enclosed beach and another bar ( thanks Kostas!) Good wifi access in all areas, but will slow down at peak times. A busy hotel, with some queuing for the Minoan Restaurant but only being 2 , we were easily seated by the professional table staff ( Matre D is a total legend - misses nothing) The food has been amazing with a lovely selection of salads/vegetables, main courses and sides of rice/pasta/chips or a potato dish - and a different choice of 2x Cretan foods plus 2 grill items every night. I don't have a sweet tooth but got pulled in by the baklava! Self service drinks of water/fresh juice/fizzy drinks/wine/beer in the restaurant helped to keep hydrated. A side mention needs to be for the brilliant bread selection 👌 Good choice of vegetarian options. We were upgraded to a family room with a spacious shower and great aircon ( rarely below 24° at night). Hats off to the Animation team for Aquafit in the pool - in multi languages. Silva Beach is nicely located for wandering to the local shops for souvenirs or stuff you have forgotten - and everyone is friendly and multi-lingual. JET2 rep Nathan was great, with honest guidance on trips to Knossos and Heraklion - ( hope he gets to Whitby for fish n chips)

"Great hotel, not great food though 😥"

6.0

We (M40, F40 and child/boy 13) stayed here for 1 week starting 17/08/25. The hotel has a nice big clean fresh and well air conned reception with extremely helpful and friendly staff. The porters were very helpful and friendly also. Our room although a little dated was very clean with excellent air con, a big master bed and a sort of pullout/sofa bed for our son. Both beds were clean and fairly comfy. We did have a leak in the bathroom ceiling from day 1 throughout are entire stay, it wasn’t terrible but really no one should be staying in a room with a leak, we did notify reception but nothing really happened and we didn’t let it effect our stay. There wasn’t really much clothes storage so ended up living out suit cases. I think there were like 8 hangers and some very small shallow shelves in the wardrobe. The food is where it goes downhill. The quality was ok, nothing fantastic but you struggled to make an actual meal, it was just bits and pieces. It’s ok if you’re a chicken nugget/chips warrior but we’re all quite adventurous and like to eat/try food a little more flavourful. I don’t go on holiday to eat chips or bland/beige food. 99% of the waiters/waitresses were very polite and helpful though there was an older woman in her 50’s with shortish hair who we found extremely rude. Maybe she was just fed up of ignorant guests and took it out on everyone. The queues for food were unbelievable, I’ve never saw anything like it. There is no where near enough seats/tables for the guests. We saw people queuing in 35-40c heat no shade waiting to get in for lunch standing in line for 20-30 minutes at a time. We gave up and ended up eating out at local restaurants as queuing for sub par food was fairly poor even though we’d already paid for food after dropping £3500 on a week for all inclusive. The location of the hotel is great. They have a lovely spot on the beach, stunning scenery with crystal clear water. We were in the sea every day it was phenomenal. There are plenty of shops to get snacks/drinks. This hotel would be 5/5 if it wasn’t all inclusive and they just got rid of the food. The food situation lets it down a lot.
