An amazing hotel - the grounds are beautiful and the staff really attentive. Breakfast also excellent.

1) The hotel needs some love. The swimming pool tiles are coming away - I cut my foot on one. You could literally see them floating in the pool. Kids park has nails sticking out and rotting wood. 2) Facilities slightly lacking. On a rainy day there’s nothing to do 3) Restaurants could be better - nowhere available for dinner until 6:30pm which isn’t ideal with a toddler 4) Housekeeping slightly inconsistent - didnt clean the bath at all and ignored things like used glasses Not the fault of the hotel but - Villamoura Marina is not nice. Needs less Irish pubs and more authentic Portuguese restaurants

Returning to Domes Lake Algarve for a second year felt genuinely special, with the resort still outshining our expectations - in almost every aspect possible. This remains a true 5 star resort in every sense and firmly retains its place as our go to destination in the Algarve. It is a unique and characterful property with charming views, a fantastic location and consistently exceptional service. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by Nadia, whose presence continues to set the tone for the entire resort. Alongside her, Francesca and the wider guest relations team were excellent throughout. Service across the board, from reception to the bar, remains consistently attentive, friendly and genuinely warm, which is a big part of what makes the resort. Our days still began with breakfast, which remains outstanding. In fact, drinks orders were now taken upon being seated which made a noticeable difference this year, while the variety and quality of the spread remains excellent with a great mix of local options too. The breakfast team deserves real credit for maintaining such a high standard. The facilities continue to impress. The lake activities including kayaking were just as enjoyable as we remembered, and the sports facilities such as tennis, pool and table tennis remain a great addition. The pool bar was also a highlight again, offering very good food and drinks throughout the day, although a slightly broader selection of tapas style dishes would make it even better alongside the already impressive cocktails. One of the standout moments of our trip was the mixology class led by David. This was genuinely one of the best experiences of our stay. It was interactive, relaxed and a lot of fun, with a great mix of Domes signature cocktails and well known classics. David’s knowledge and energy really made it memorable. The overall atmosphere of the resort remains one of its biggest strengths. It feels calm, luxurious and well balanced with a mix of couples and families. The location is just as strong with easy access to the marina and the beach, and we also enjoyed trips to the cliffs of Carvoeiro and the Designer Outlet Algarve, both very easy to reach. There were however a few areas where this stay did not quite match our previous visit. The most noticeable was the removal of the evening turndown service, which was a lovely touch last year and is truly missed! Housekeeping was also a little inconsistent this time. Rooms were often cleaned quite late in the day, sometimes as late as 5pm. Having stayed across a number of 5 star properties, including brands comparable to Marriott’s Autograph Collection such as MGallery by Accor and Curio Collection by Hilton, this did feel slower than expected for a hotel of this category, particularly during off peak season. That said, once we requested a 10am clean this was handled very well and followed through consistently each day. There were also a few small details that could be improved such as marks on curtains, watermarks on tables and the fact that under the bed had not been cleaned during our stay, something only noticed when checking prior to departure. A couple of smaller points included the outdoor fire pit not being in use this year which slightly affected the evening atmosphere. The Soma Spa steam room was also once again out of service, something we experienced last year. In addition, the treadmills in the gym now face directly into the morning sun which made early runs less comfortable. Our room also did not include a bathtub this time despite being the same category as our previous stay. Overall, while a few details have changed, the core of what makes Domes Lake Algarve so special remains the same. It is a stylish, relaxing and very well run resort with outstanding staff, excellent facilities and a genuinely welcoming atmosphere. We have already rebooked for 2027 which says everything. A big thank you to Nadia, Francesca, David and the entire team for another unforgettable stay. This truly remains our happy place and we cannot wait to return again.
