We had an absolutely wonderful experience at The Malbone House! It is so centrally located to many restaurants and shops. It is a quiet oasis, yet it is right in the center of Newport activities!The atmosphere was warm and welcoming. The parlors were cozy and warm. The Christmas decor was not quite as nice as in past years, but still very nice. Our room was immaculate and inviting. The food for tea and breakfast was just delicious! We thank you, Victor for some great meals. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. Glen ( I can't thank you enough) and Gretchen are two fantastic additions to the place. Talking to both of them was as is we had known them for years. We are so happy that we decided to return. We had stopped going after a couple rather unhappy experiences after the Inn had been sold. We can honestly say that we will definitely be back! We highly recommend a stay at the Malbone House!

If you want to be welcomed to Newport with gracious New England hospitality this is the place. Elegant, historic vibe yet refreshingly relaxed. Afternoon tea is a meal in itself enjoyed by a roaring fire in one of the 4 parlors. Breakfast cooked to order -served on fine china by Sue who also made the individual cups of overnight oats and shared her recipe!!! Exceptional attention to every detail by the outstanding staff. Thanks again Audrey, Gretchen, Glen and Sue.

The Francis Malbone is the only place we would stay while visiting Newport. The Inn is stunning and immaculate. Breakfast is delicious, as is the afternoon refreshments. The service is excellent. Sue, Toby, and Liz are warm and kind. They are a big reason why we keep returning year after year. We just left and can’t wait to return in 2026

The entire Staff was very professional, courteous and helpful. All meals - breakfasts and afternoon tea hour foods were outstanding, prepared by chef Victor. Delicious and filling. Sue is equally outstanding with her management of the tables for breakfast. I would call her the 'Mayor" always on her toes, on top of your needs and very pleasant with all guests. She is truly a positive asset to the Francis Malbone House. I cannot wait to visit again.

Conveniently located in the downtown area, this charming inn is close to many shopping and dining opportunities. With their period-style furnishings and seasonal decorations, the public areas and guest rooms are lovely, comfortable, and immaculate. The friendly innkeepers and attentive staff go above and beyond to make you feel welcome. All of this, plus the delicious afternoon tea and breakfast offerings, will not only pamper you but also have you planning your next visit.

The Francis Malbone House exceeded our expectations in every way. From check-in to check-out it was perfection! The inn was impeccable, charming and historical. The location in the heart of Newport could not have been better. We stayed in the Courtyard Suite which was spacious, comfortable and we especially loved our private patio. The fabulous staff of Toby, Gretchen, Glen, and Sue went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed for our stay. Sue provided a beautiful dining room setting each morning with a full breakfast including hot choices. The Afternoon Tea was lovely each day. We can’t wait to go back. This small, historic inn was perfection. The location was convenient, the property immaculately maintained, and the staff were polite, helpful, and fun. I love old houses, but usually these historic properties, while charming, are a bit cranky and dusty. Not so here. Every modern convenience was available and there was no dust anywhere! Sue, who served our delicious breakfast each morning, was like an old friend by our last day, and Toby and Gretchen, who work the reception desk, were totally charming. Toby greeted us when we came in from dinner, offered to light a fire in the beautiful reception rooms, and showed us interesting historic details in the house, and Gretchen had great tips about getting around and where to park for shopping. I have high standards and notice everything. The Francis Malbone House met all my expectations. Thank you for a delightful three days.
