Francis Malbone House

Absolutely everything about this stay was lovely! One of my favorite places to stay in Newport!

What a wonderful experience. We loved our stay at The Francis Malbone House. Our trip to Newport was part of a longer 2-week trip to New England and although we were only there for 2 nights, it was our favorite place we stayed in New England. The location was perfect, right in the middle of downtown Newport, walkable to everything. We even walked to the Mansions; however, if it's poor weather, I'd suggest driving - it's a bit of a walk. There is a nice parking lot right behind the Inn - we left our car there and walked everywhere. We had a lovely queen room on the 3rd floor (Gardenside 8) in the main house - it was very nice, extremely clean and nicely decorated (a bit small but we didn't mind), it had everything we needed and suited the time period perfectly with a bonus of all the modern amenities. Glenn helped us with our luggage up the stairs - he was super helpful. I can't begin to say enough about the wonderful staff - they were so helpful, welcoming and personable - they made us feel like they truly cared about our experience and wanted to get to know us a bit. Sue was fantastic each morning and created a lovely experience at breakfast. She went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. The chef is amazing - 2 choices for hot breakfast (both were different & delicious each day), then an assortment of pastries, breads, yogurt/granola, juices and fruit. The coffee was fabulous too. Gretchen, Liz and Toby were outstanding. They provided great tips and information about Newport and suggestions on where to eat. The conversations we had with each of them - make the experience memorable. Afternoon tea was a wonderful touch - sweet & savory items, looked forward to that each day. The courtyard is a peaceful place to read or unwind. If you want to stay in the heart of Newport you won't be disappointed at this lovely historic Inn. We loved it and can't wait to go back again.

What an amazing stay! The Francis Malbone House exceeded our expectations. We stayed for 5 nights, the room was immaculate, the breakfast each morning was outstanding and that afternoon tea and desserts...fabulous! Sue went above and beyond each morning to provide outstanding service. A special shout out to Gretchen, Liz and Toby for being so welcoming and helpful. The location is perfect for walking around Newport. I would 100% recommend The Francis Malbone House...you will be glad you did!

Loved the old charm, however our room floor was sloped by a significant degree making the bed slope.

This property was highlight of our trip to Newport. What a gem. The management & staff went above & beyond to make the stay perfect. Beautiful

Staff were so friendly and helpful. We really wished we could’ve stayed longer. Breakfast was delicious and the afternoon tea was perfect way to relax in the outdoor garden.
