Comfortable room for price paid.

We would have appreciated two chairs in the room.

Room was very dated and had water damage down the wall, requested another room which was better but the sheet didnt even fit the bed , whole hotel had a musky old smell , got a lesser room but didnt get my £20 back that i paid for a king room, wont be back here again .

Staff and cleanliness good, needs updating

The building is beautiful with great architecture, the rooms were quite spacious and very clean. Recently updated I believe. The lobby and bar, restaurant were lovely as well. Friendly staff too! My booking through Expedia did not go through and we were lucky they had availability and the manager was able to sort it all out.

Where do I start? The Hotel looks nice from the picture, but that’s where the dream stops. It is an old, tired and very run down hotel. On a positive note, the staff are lovely and welcoming. We had a ground floor room in what appeared to be an old extension of the building. The room was freezing. The sash windows are single glazed and the sash cords burst in all of them. It is labelled an en-suite room, but the toilet is behind a sliding door, that doesn’t shut properly and the sink is in the actual bedroom. The space is so small and narrow, and the shower cubicle tiny. The WC is leaking, with water round the base. The main heater in the room does not work and we were given a small radiator. When the radiator was on at maximum, you could easily place your hand on top of it, which we did, without burning yourself or having to take your hands off it. It was inept for the room size. We slept with our fleeces on in bed, due to being so cold. We reported this to Reception, but were told they couldn’t help us due to the hotel being full and no spares of anything were available. We asked for blankets or spare duvets, but again were told that due to the hotel being full, they couldn’t give us any. How can a hotel not carry spare duvets, pillows or blankets? What if someone took ill in the middle of the night, which can happen? The pillows are an inch thick and inadequate. We asked for spares as there was only one spare one in the wardrobe, but you’ve guessed it - due to the hotel being full, they couldn’t give us another pillow. The whole experience was dire. The cleanliness of the room left a lot to be desired. Cobwebs hanging from the ceilings, dust on the skirting boards. The TV stand thick with dust and the tray the kettle, cups and milk were on was dirty. We didn’t use the cups in the room and brought them from the restaurant. Tour companies need to stop using this atrocious hotel because it is not fair for their clients to be subjected to sub-standard conditions. The Restaurant was nice and the staff were lovely. The food was awful, but the breakfast reasonable. We would never stay here again and we would definitely not recommend anyone else to do so either. PLEASE AVOID THIS HOTEL.

Didn't confirm booking and wouldn't answer the phone

The room was quite dated but overall clean and tidy. Unfortunately, the shower was a letdown—temperature control was erratic, swinging from freezing cold to scalding hot, which felt unsafe. The TV in the room was very small, making it hard to enjoy any downtime. That said, the space was functional for a short stay.

Unfortunately, my experience was marred by a serious payment issue. Upon arrival, I noticed two pending transactions for the hotel stay on my bank account. By the next morning, both had been processed. I raised this with the receptionist, who showed little interest and simply said he couldn’t help but would speak to accounts and call me back. Ten days later, I’ve received no call and no response to the two emails I sent, both of which included the separate payment IDs clearly showing I was charged twice. Extremely disappointing customer service and no resolution to date.

Looks nice from the outside, but the bedrooms leave a lot to be desired. Went for 2 nights on a coach holiday. We were given a room with windows that had been painted shut, so no access to fresh air. Wash hand basin was in the bedroom. Shower and toilet were behind a sliding door that didn’t properly close and the extractor didn’t work. Shower room with toilet was about 8 feet by less than 3 feet, but I might be exaggerating the sizes. Room needed a good clean. Window sills ingrained with dirt that had been there a long while. Hand wash needed refilled. Rooms won’t be serviced unless you request it, apparently in an effort to be economical friendly! Cleanliness is definitely not their strong point. Most of my fellow travellers had similar issues. Food was ok. Reception area,dining room and bar were ok. No entertainment. No one on the coach would ever return to the hotel. The positives off the hotel were the dining room staff and the charming and helpful Australian young man on reception. I would not return.
