Hotel Continental - Reims

Really like the comfy clean rooms. Very short walk to main centre and parking easy. Need to provide two hand towels and a floor towel for guests.

Although the bed was comfy and sanitary facilities OK, the interior room looked tatty. Grey towels, very noisy airco system. Breakfast was unkempt and even not hygienic as everyone gripped the "baguette", not covered by a napkin, to cut off slices. Too expensive for what is offered.

The location is situated well in proximity to Train Station, many restaurants/cafe's/bars, shopping, the cathedral. Staff was lovely at the front desk and restaurant. Would definitely recommend and stay here again.

Hotel Continental is well worth a return

We stayed here in June 2025 for three nights. We reserved a “Double Intemporelle/Timeless” room in this 4-star hotel. The room was spacious, comfortable, and clean. The location is excellent for accessing the train station, walking to restaurants, and visiting sights. However, the “service” provided by this hotel pales in comparison to the 11 other 4-star and 3-star hotels during our 6-week trip. At check-in, they encourage guests to forego any/all service to the room throughout their stay in exchange for a glass of champagne. The rooms do not have mini refrigerators, nor do they have hot water kettles available for use in the rooms. There is a small coffee pod machine. However, all the cups are paper and are too small for the coffee that is brewed. The machine overflowed each paper cup with every use. In their efforts to be “greener” by foregoing service to the rooms, they only provide single-use paper cups that ultimately create more waste and mess with each use (rather than providing ceramic cups or mugs that can be reused). And while we were told we could request additional room supplies (toilet paper, towels, more coffee pods), each request left us feeling like we were imposing on the front desk staff. The towel heater rack did not work in our room, so towels were unable to dry between uses. The room safe did not work because its battery was dead. The remote control for our TV was not fully functional. We were left to wonder if any hotel staff member checks the workability of items in the rooms during room servicing to ensure the next guest has a fully functional room upon arrival. Note that we never saw any housekeeping staff members at any point during our 3-night stay. We decided to try the hotel’s breakfast our first morning there. It is very overpriced at €23 per person. While they advertise that the breakfast includes “pastries and breads,” neither of these types of items were included or available (we arrived in the restaurant at 8:50 am). When we asked about the lack of these items, the response was a shrug of the shoulders and “may be an issue with the bakery.” We did not eat breakfast at the Hotel Continental on the remaining days of our visit. Instead, we went to the Best Western (6 doors down). Their breakfast was very reasonably priced (€13.50 per person), had all the usual French breakfast options, and was very tasty. We found that the price, value, and food offerings at the Best Western far surpassed the overpriced and limited offerings at the Hotel Continental. Part of the reason we selected this hotel is because it was listed in the Rick Steves guidebook for Reims. However, this hotel seemed to be too reliant on that guidebook recommendation. There are numerous other lodging options that are on this same street with equally excellent location to trains, restaurants, and sights. We recommend that guests carefully weigh all other lodging options before selecting Hotel Continental. If we happen to stay overnight in Reims again, we would seek lodging elsewhere.

We had a nice stay here in Reims. Only hotel negative was we had to walk outside the reception area to get to the lift for our area and we had to pass by where the trash is kept and the smell was most unpleasant. Also parking was supposed to be paid for 2 days and when we tried to leave after check out we were forced to pay another day. We asked garage manager to comp it because we already paid and he wouldn’t budge.

Beautiful hotel with a nice upscale restaurant and bar. Perfect location to all of the cafes and nightlife and close to the train station.
