"Pretty good value and quality."

8.0

Stayed for one night at the end of May 2026 en route to Towcester. (Executive double £150 BnB including car parking). Firstly, the hotel is deceptively large - looks pretty big anyway from the front - but the true vastness of the place is evident from the car park at the rear. On the subject of car parking, when I looked on google map it looks like you can drive in from the front of the hotel however it looks like they're having an addition built which means you can't. It's the next road, if driving from the North, on the left that takes you to the well signposted rear car park entrance. At the moment, I assume this will change when the building work is finished, you have to take your cases etc from the car park right round the outside of the building to get to the hotel entrance. Not a major issue - but it could be improved if there was a rear entrance to the hotel. The room itself was good. Large, with a view over the rear beer garden and car park. A couple of easy chairs and a desk chair. Plenty of power sockets (on each side of the bed) and a few more scattered around. An excellent powerful shower in the large bathroom. The whole place was very clean and fully stocked will all that you need. We were not disturbed by any noise at all - which considering it was a baking hot Saturday night at the end of half term was pretty good. Breakfast was a buffet style one - which was OK, although maybe it could have been kept a bit hotter. The only minor issue we had was with the WiFi - the one we were told to use didn't work which the very helpful young lass on reception assisted with by giving us another one to sign into - sadly that didn't work the next day. Not a deal breaker - just a mild irritation. The high street in Stevenage itself where the hotel is located has a load of shops, cafes and pubs to keep you going and the ones we went in were all pretty good. When we visited the high street was closed off halfway down meaning there was very little traffic - that may be different when it reopens. All in all - very good. I'd stay there again.

The staff were exceptional. So helpful, polite & understanding.

Having a winter duvet in a hotel room during a heatwave is not ideal. It would be a good idea for to have a choice of bedding options.

The Hotel is a beautiful elegant space where you feel special. Customer service is second to none, nothing is too much trouble for the friendly team. Bedrooms are also beautiful and comfortable. A mix of historic and new works so well.

"Okay Hotel."

6.0

I stayed here, prior to a trip into London, to visit Wembley for the Hull v Middlesbro play-off final game. On arrival there was only one person on the reception and she was on the phone taking an enquiry, therefore it was around ten minutes before she could look after me. Not a problem, but it could be for some guests. The car park was at the rear of the hotel. In the on-line photographs there is a drive through at the front to get into the car park. This gate was closed, therefore I had to ask for directions in order to park. Luckily for me, there was a couple of free parking spaces. The paperwork said: 'Superior Single'. To be fair, there wasn't much superior about it. Just a bog-standard single room. What spoiled it for me was the poor sleep quality due to the incessant sound of a blowing A/C unit which at midnight sounded very loud. Almost like a faulty cistern in the room above. I had to sleep with a pillow over my head, which wasn't comfortable. Other than that. No other complaints. The hotel is on the High Street right in the busy old town area, which has plenty of pubs within a one hundred yards walking distance and a few pleasant looking eateries. The railway station is about 30 mins walk at a leisurely pace. The locals seemed quite friendly and approachable. The breakfast on both mornings of my stay was good. Plenty of eat and plenty of room in the restaurant. Would I stay here again? Not sure to be honest. Value for money. For what I paid, it was about right....Neil, HU7
