For the price, this was perfect. A basic hotel, literally a 2 mins walk from beach on one side and the local town centre the other way. Staff were super friendly and accommodating! Cleanliness was normal. I only didn’t like the bathroom much, but it was useable! Would deffo recommend to anyone wanting a low cost stay with walking distance to everywhere. Breakfast was fine as well! Would go back again

Hotel is very run down, the lifts are tiny. Parking is a big problem not enough parking spaces for the size of the hotel. The rooms were very hot had the windows open all day however had to close them on an evening due to the noise of guests returning late at night/early morning. The plus is the staff are very hardworking & polite.

"Disappointing "

4.0

Very disappointing. Basic doesn’t even begin to cover what this hotel has to offer. Furniture is from the 1980’s and looks it, worn, chipped & scratched. Bed is a cheap wooden frame so any romance is out of the question. The floor into the bathroom is on a slope for some reason and the size of the bathroom in comparison to the cramped bedroom is ridiculous. A big bathroom would have been lovely if it looked anything like the one in the hotel pictures, both it and the bedroom are about as far from the hotel pics as it’s possible to get, the photographer must have gotten his SD card mixed up with somewhere else when he submitted the photos! The corridors are very narrow and the lifts take 2 people, as long as you are happy yo be pressed up against the person you are in the lift with! It doesn’t get better with breakfast I’m afraid. The policy seems to be buy cheap so that it looks like you’re getting a big brekkie, whereas less but of better quality would have made so much difference. Cheap cutlery as well, the edges of the knife are sharp and cut into your hands when using it. The best bit about our stay here was that the pillows were decent! You may think that we paid for a budget hotel and that’s what we got so don’t complain, but £139 a night doesn’t really count as budget in my book. If you’re completely happy with just a place to put your head then at least the place is clean, but if you want something that’s more in line with what you’ve paid, don’t stay here.

"Price is ok, but rooms on 1st floor are not."

6.0

The staff were polite, but the rooms on the first floor are just atrocious, I mean it reminded me something out of the shining, the room itself was really small and the shower cubicle was incredibly small. During the night I could hear everything from next door and the room above. If your there to put your head down for a night then it’s fine, only two good things is the beach is not too far from the location and it was cheaper than most other hotels during the bank holiday but if I was go Bournemouth again I would most likely avoid.

"Stay elsewhere "

2.0

This stay was absolutely awful. I arrived to the Britannia to find the hotel was closed to guests (although there were some staff around). The guy at reception didn’t seem to know what was going on but after making a few calls found that they had outsourced my booking and booked me a room in another nearby hotel called the Roundhouse. I arrived at the roundhouse and checked in. The state of the room was awful, the bathroom was exceptionally dirty. There were black marks all around the plug hole and the bottom of the bath was stained brown. There were tiles missing from the walls and the floor looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in a long time. I had booked for two nights, I stayed the first night but when I returned to the hotel on the second night there was a group outside smoking weed and most occasions that I left or returned to the hotel there were people standing outside drinking. On the second night, I could hear loud voices and shouting in the room next to me and the corridor outside my room, someone then tried to get in to my room using the adjoining door from the room next to me. I ended up feeling so unsafe that I went and stayed elsewhere.
