"Paradise"

10.0

A Remarkable Stay at DoubleTree by Hilton Fiji – Sonaisali Island! From the moment we stepped off the boat and were greeted with warm smiles and momentous hospitality, we knew the arrival in paradise was a reality. The staff at DoubleTree by Hilton Fiji rolled out the red carpet — literally and figuratively — with heartfelt “Bula!” greetings, and an unforgettable welcome that set the tone for our entire stay. The island setting is absolutely breathtaking. Surrounded by crystal-clear waters and lush greenery, the resort feels secluded yet conveniently close to Nadi. Our beachfront bure was spotless, spacious, and beautifully designed with modern touches and traditional Fijian charm. Waking up to the sound of waves and watching sunsets from the veranda was simply unforgettable, along with the sounds of coconuts falling from the trees. Dining was another highlight — every meal was delicious and fresh, especially the seafood. The dining was amazing — from fresh island breakfasts to romantic dinners under the stars. The cocktails, live music, and friendly atmosphere created the perfect island escape. We loved the live Fijian music in the evenings, creating the perfect island vibe with the fire dancers and interaction with the staff and guest. Whether relaxing by the infinity pool, horseback riding on the beach, or indulging in a soothing spa treatment from Ms Amelia, there was always something special to enjoy. The staff members, Anup, Shanaka, and AP just to name a few who remembered our names, my wife’s allergies and room number, shared stories, and treated us with genuine warmth — that personal touch made all the difference by acknowledging us for all appearances. Every single detail — from the personalized service to the thoughtful touches — made us feel like royalty. DoubleTree by Hilton Fiji didn’t just meet expectations; they exceeded them in every way celebrating my wife’s 50th Birthday. Our stay at DoubleTree by Hilton Fiji, Sonaisali Island was pure perfection ,a beautiful mix of luxury, relaxation, and heartfelt hospitality. We can’t wait to return in the future with family and friends! Vinaka vakalevu to the entire team for a five-star experience! 🌺

Room was very basic apart from being a bugliw there wasnt anything else to it. Food was so bad on burger night there were no patties upon waiting for so long towards the end the chef brought some limited stuff to us. Chicken smelled ; eggs smelled. Apart from living on chicken nuggets and chips there wasnt anything to eat. Quite literally. Try asking them for Fresh towels and water. Its all a lie. Dont go here.

We felt like we were treated special every day. The breakfast team (thank you Jim) were awesome. The housekeeping team (Thank you Ana) kept our room fresh and clean every day, making little sweet towel & flower arrangements on our bed every morning. Thanks Gang, we will be back.

Staff overall were good pleasant and welcoming ,value for money was a let down . Food and drinks expensive and food was well below a perceived standard. Waiting over 1-1/2 hrs for a meal the 1st night .The second night the meal was almost inedible ,sparking water was straight out of the tap.We moved past these issues and enjoyed our stay because this was a well deserved trip ,with the wife completing chemo treatment. But value for money and getting what you pay for wasn’t factored in the equation. Thanks to the staff for their efforts they made the trip , but management need to take a close look at there performance and what is offered to guests - not to the standard expected . Enjoyed the trip but wont return to fiji again value for money and quality leave alit to be desired . Kind regards Allan

"Wonderful staff"

10.0

We had a lovely stay here. As an Honors member, we were given an upgrade, and it was very nice. The staff could not have been better!! We were ALWAYS acknowledged when we encountered a staff member, and often, even by name. We enjoyed a pedicure and massage at the spa. They did a FANTASTIC job and I felt the prices were very reasonable. The breakfast buffet was good, with a good amount of choices. We ate the seafood buffet (Saturday night) and enjoyed the entertainment during the meal and fire show afterwards. There were plenty of loungers available when we were there, even though many people felt they were entitled to leave a towel on one to reserve for SEVERAL hours before actually using them….very rude! The grounds were kept up well. I would return in a heartbeat! Again, the staff was INCREDIBLE!!

"One word describes the experience at this resort. Tired."

2.0

It’s been 7 years since we last were here and not much has changed, other than the staff appear tired, the resort is run down and a good vibe is lacking. It’s a problem when the staff appear frustrated and annoyed with simply saying “Bula” Especially the duty manager at reception on Friday 26th September. She was frosty. We watched older people dragging their bags from the boat up to reception with no assistance. That is rude especially in the heat. The reviews describing the food are spot on. It’s over priced and the quality is atrocious. But the worst thing is the wait. 50 minutes for a mediocre burger and club sandwich on our first day. An hour for dinner at the restaurant on the beach. 40 minutes for one pizza by the pool. Absolutely no sense of urgency or desire to provide any level of customer service. Each day a drinks station is set up by the sun loungers facing the beach. Juice and spirits sit in the basking sun all day and no one is there to serve a drink, it doesn’t add up. Double tree Fiji is no Hilton! I read the previous reviews and the replies from the resort. But thanking people for the feedback and hoping they return is not a response. Change is necessary. An example of fabulous food and service was Cantina at the Port. It was next level , so we know it’s possible. Even the music playing is on constant repeat and we sat at dinner and listened to the same ub40 song 4 times. If that doesn’t show a lack of care, not sure what does. This place needs a substantial cash injection to spruce the place up. The potential is endless but it’s a 2 star offering and whilst considerably cheaper than anything on Denerau it needs to be as cheap is the way we would describe it. It’s well worth the $65 taxi ride to the port to get a decent meal! In fact we left every night we stayed to avoid the food! Fiji has always been a quick trip from home (Nz) for a relaxing break in wonderful weather. And the Fijian people have historically been so beautiful and friendly. Somethings changed, not sure what. But we won’t be back. Bali, Vietnam and Thailand are much more affordable offerings and the service there is impeccable. They make you feel like they want your custom! And when you work hard to have holidays that’s important.

Hotel is okay, they have a lot of things to improve. There’s so much potential. We had the one king bed, ocean view bure and was beautiful. The only annoying thing was the AC is not cold and the tables had very bad stains but room was very clean. There’s no fun activities included in the hotel, if you want to do something you have to pay or book a tour. They had an entertainment show on Saturday night and there’s no promo or they don’t tell you at check in so we missed it. The sharing areas are covered in bird poop, extreme!!! There’s only one small pool, not properly cleaned but has a nice view. The beach water there is brown… and you can not swim is just the view. You must book tours and taxis outside of hotel, they are cheaper. Calculating is better to stay at Denarau area because of the expensive taxis we took everyday. There’s no wifi in room, you must pay and is horrible, is better to go to the front counter and there’s free wifi and works better. All the employees were very nice and polite to us, some of them very talkative and wanting to help. Overall will not stay here again, too expensive for what it is.
