DoubleTree Resort by Hilton Hotel Fiji - Sonaisali Island

We absolutely loved our stay at Doubletree. The staff are super friendly, Fijian style. If you’re looking for a place where you’re able to disconnect from everything around you and all the noise without breaking the bank or travelling far this is a place to go. It’s perfect for children. A great place to unwind destress and relax.

We checked in at around 6pm after traveling all day. At check-in, I was told by the lady working the front desk that reservations are normally required for the main restaurant but, not for the first day late arrivals like us. However, when we showed at the restaurant around 7pm for dinner… we were told that without a reservation we would have to wait until 8pm to be seated… even though less than 50% of the tables had guests at them. Later in the week we showed up 10-15mins early for a dinner reservation and were told we had to wait until our reservation time to be seated… even though the restaurant was again less than 50% full. The breakfast/dinner buffet was sub-par and the food was generally cold. The room (and the view from the room) was very nice but, a microwave would be very much appreciated. Guest dishes from room service were left in the (outdoor) hall for hours, which attracted cats to the dirty dishes. All-in-all… not the resort experience I had hoped for.

Everything was amazing, cant say anything bad, only no cutlery in room. No shoes as tiles were cold just cant were my canvas in the room. Other resorts property have those things. Lovely staff, a guy name jim as beverages beyond above customer service. Love the surprise cake for my wife brithday Overrall 10 of 10.

Excellent stay, would highly recommend. The staff were all incredibly lovely! In particular the hotel manager was so kind and generous, Eka so sweet doing the tie dye tshirts, and the lovely lady I think Mari was her name - the waitress at Tavu grill. They all made our stay wonderful, as well as the everyone else working there. Honestly, it couldn’t have been any nicer. Will be back

We stayed at the hotel for 5 nights. We got upgraded to a beach view bungalow which was very nice. The bungalow itself was very big, spacious and modern. However, we had one of the ones furthest away from the main building so it was quite a walk each time to go for breakfast etc. The room was clean, but housekeeping came during random times and were pretty aggressive and impatient in entering the room, which was a bit annoying if you were in the shower and forgot to hang the “Do not disturb” sign. The breakfast was not good unfortunately, everything tasted not really fresh. The juices tasted cheap and chemical and there was not a large selection of bread and any other cold food. The lunch and dinner menu was okay and the prices were not too bad, but they were the only choice whatsoever as you’re very isolated there. The resort itself was pretty, the “private” island was beautiful and you could walk around to explore it. Contrary to other reviews here, you COULD swim in the ocean and there IS a beach, however it is not serviced and it’s pretty small. The reason why it’s not advertised is that the water is not very clear and rather muddy, and the beach mostly disappears during high tide. Still, there are sun beds everywhere around the beach, but not on the sand but rather above it. The location is one of the more annoying things about the resort. As it’s neither in Nadi nor in Denarau, most tour and transport operators charge extra to pick you up to do anything, and the hotel taxis are very expensive as well. And nothing is in walking distance, so if you want to buy groceries you either need to do so in the overpriced hotel shop or take an expensive taxi. The one real plus we experienced is that to go diving, the boat pulled up right at the beach so we just needed to go out of our villa and the boat was waiting in the water right there. All in all it was a nice stay and the staff tried to accommodate the dietary restrictions we had, but the resort needs some improvements overall.

I went with my three friends and it was the best holidays we spent. Staff was very welcoming and friendly, they made sure our stay was comfortable and enjoyable.

It’s unique due to it being secluded, but you are limited on food options, your only water is the pool if you can find chairs. Be prepared to basically do nothing and that includes no TV.

Staff and breakfast was really good.
