Beautiful hotel, amenities and location. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff who were so kind and helpful. From our welcome to our departure we felt special. We had a very relaxed stay. Would thoroughly recommend to anyone from older couples, like ourselves, to younger couples and families.

My wide and I have just returned once again from the Quintinha de Sao João hotel in Funchal. This was partly to celebrate my 70 th birthday & the staff made it so special. As always, all staff were so welcoming and helpful. My wife’s birthday was a couple of days after mine & we didn’t realise that the staff knew it was her birthday as we hadn’t told them. They also made her birthday very special. The food in the hotel is absolutely amazing and the service is excellent, no matter how busy the restaurant is. The staff all work incredibly hard & at breakfast time they are constantly checking which foods on the buffet require to be topped up. The breakfast is excellent and there is an excellent variety of foods available. You will certainly not find better food in any other restaurants in Madeira than you do in Quintinha de Sao João. They also have excellent wines and we have never tasted one which we didn’t like. My wife had a massage from Carly in the Spa and she thoroughly enjoyed this, making her so relaxed. The Garden bar is such a relaxing place to have a drink in the afternoons, which we did on too many occasions as it is so nice! One of the aspects which make this hotel is the incredible staff, together with the General Manager, Andre. Several,of the staff have worked at the hotel since it opened 26 years ago, which shows how much they enjoy working there and also how well they are treated by the General Manager. We have stayed at the hotel on many occasions and are due to return in November, and also on a few occasions for 2026. We would highly recommend the hotel.

L’hôtel est magnifique. Les chambres, literies, l’accueil, la décoration, le Spa! Les réceptionnistes , le cocktail de bienvenu.

Le petit déjeuner pas digne d’un 5 étoiles. Du café instantané ! Gaufres ou pancake ressemblant à du Picard. Le personnel du petit déjeuner très désagréable.
