Hyatt Regency Hakone Resort and Spa

Onsen facilities is limited to one onsen pool, no steam room, no sauna, no cold pool. The hotel provides shuttle service to few locations, this is a thumb up service provided by the hotel

1] Location, if you enjoy remote this is where you want to book otherwise book elsewhere. 2] Atmosphere, of the hotel is quiet & can with a goo 3] Room, was clean & large 73 sq/m with a lot of good quality personal amenities. Very comfortable with no-one stepping on top of the other, however its layout not its furnishings are somewhat dated so it is wasted space and could be more functional. 4] Value, if it weren't for the Onsen being included in the cost, the value for the cost would probably be too high. The Onsen makes up for the age & sparsity of the hotel. 5] Staff, outstanding! Very welcoming, hospitable & accommodating. 6] Cleanliness, rooms, lobby, dining area, Onsen, etc., all very clean! 7] Noise Level, incredibly quiet! No road noise, no rowdy guests, etc., A great getaway! 8] Service, great staff = great service (bullet point 5 above). Free shuttle service to/from Odawara train station, however if you get car sick easily definitely don't use the shuttle service take the train. 9] Amenities, outstanding! Great in room amenities, Onsen was amazing, Dining - definitely purchase the breakfast pack - wonderful variety of food & great taste. On a side note, the only dinner option we ate was the LO option and it was slightly disappointing. There are also Japanese and French restaurants options for dinner but we ate some great Japanese food prior to coming to Hakone so opted to pass on this option and the French option didn't raise our interest. Overall, highly recommend at least one visit if you're into remote and isolated. If you're a snacker, pick up snacks before getting to the hotel because there is no easily walkable convenience stores or restaurants.

Shout out to Nanaka at reception for the amazing job she did to help us sort through some logistical challenges to get to the Shinkansen station upon departure. She helped us think through the alternatives and got us on the Hyatt shuttle at the correct time. The rooms are spacious and clean. It's worth paying a bit extra for the mountain view so you can watch the sunrise and drink a coffee from your enclosed balcony.

We went to Hakone during our stay in Tokyo. Easy to take the romance train. The hotel is comfortably appointed. It is the staff that makes this property so special. Nice Onsen bath experience. Spa offered one of the best facials my wife has had. Food is good quality and abundant. Convenient shuttle to the cable car going to Mt Fuji.

Pleasant stay with a location that is very relaxing. However, would have expected more activities for kids so it would be more involved.

It’s a true 5 star hotel. Large room with beautiful mountain view, very clean and with good facilities. The staff are friendly and professional, catering to all your needs. Very impressed.

Beautiful facility in a beautiful location. I would certainly recommend it. I felt bad bringing my toddler there since it definitely seems like a more mountain retreat for couples without their children, but loved the room and the space.

An exceptional stay — so peaceful and restorative. The property is tucked into a beautiful, hilly area, perfect for anyone who enjoys a good hike or simply wants to be surrounded by nature. Transport links make it easy to get around, but it still feels wonderfully secluded. The onsen was a highlight, the food was incredible, and the rooms were enormous. Staff were consistently welcoming and attentive. The only thing that would make it truly unbeatable is the addition of a gym.

I would disagree with those who commented that the rooms in this hotel were old & needed to be renovated. I was in room 335. The room was still in satisfactory condition. Moreover, staff were all polite & courteous as expected of Japanese culture. A good example is Mr Katsuyuki Hirose, an asst. manager, who not only warmly greeted us upon our arrival but also assisted us with our luggage to the check in area. To my surprise, he was the same person who brought my luggage after I have entered & examined my room. Later, I saw his welcome note with complimentary 3 sweet oranges in the table of the sun room. This indeed is a nice gesture which speaks well of this Hyatt property. I would certainly come back again with my whole family.
