"A true vacation in a beautiful mountainous rural setting."

10.0

This hotel provided excellent service even before my arrival with questions regarding pick up from the Odawara train station. This was an excellent amenity, as getting around in a mountainous area made it easily accessible and worry free. The service from the minute we were greeted at the door to check in with the registration person providing information about the area, making sure we had reservations for spa amenities, meals, shuttle to the train station, helping with train timing back to Tokyo, and area shuttles for local touring. Everything and everyone provided us with the greatest respect, right down to the last bow at the train station. The rooms were set up to provide a quiet balcony with tea/ coffee service and ours even had a top view of Mt Fuji! This hotel may be a little more expensive up front, however the amenities and service more than made up for it. Our stay was so relaxing.

"Overpriced, American, isolated and chain-hotel vibes"

2.0

Very American, overpriced food, limited Japanese influence in their living room catering and service style. Isolated location means you are ‘forced’ to use their in-house restaurants which don’t deliver on quality, value or culture.

"Lovely stay"

10.0

We liked our time here. The place is very comfortable. The shuttle to Odawara and Gora stations were very handy and helpful. The lobby has a lovely fireplace where you can sit and enjoy your drink or have a bite. The onsen was amazing. The room felt spacious and we could see the tip of Mt. Fuji. The breakfast buffet was comprehensive. The wagyu steaks in the restaurant were top notch. And indeed the staff and service were impeccable. We would return to this hotel if we are back to Hakone.

"Cozy Luxury in Halone with Stunning Ambience"

10.0

Hyatt Regency Hakone is well located in Kami-Gora, just a five-minute walk from the cable car station. The complimentary shuttle service to and from Odawara Station is a big plus. However, the local Gora shuttle service requests were not very responsive, so we ended up relying on the Free Hakone Pass instead. The hotel has a refined, high-end atmosphere with a warm and cozy high-ceiling living room where happy hour drinks are offered at very reasonable prices. The Western restaurant is beautifully designed, provides good privacy, and serves delicious food. That said, the location is a bit remote, with few shops or restaurants nearby, making it rather difficult to dine out. We stayed four nights under two separate reservations (both Hyatt Regency Suites) and requested to stay in the same room, but that wasn’t possible as the hotel was fully booked — which was understandable. However, we had to check out at noon and check back in at 3 p.m. When we tried to check in just four minutes before 3 p.m., our request was denied, and we were told to wait until exactly 3 p.m. It was disappointing and frustrating. As Globalists, we didn’t even request a late checkout or early check-in, so we couldn’t understand why the staff were so rigid about enforcing the rule.

"Relaxing Stay with Great Service and Amazing Food"

10.0

We really enjoyed our stay at Hyatt Regency Hakone. Check-in and check-out were smooth and professional. As a Globalist, I got upgraded to a suite, which was spacious, comfortable, and perfect for a relaxing getaway. We also received a drink voucher each night to use at The Living Room — a great spot to unwind by the fireplace. Breakfast had a nice mix of Western and Japanese dishes, all fresh and tasty. We had dinner at the restaurant on our first night — the beef was just incredible, and the sushi was very good too. We tried two sake flights; one was excellent, though the local one wasn’t quite to our taste. The hotel also offers complimentary pick-up and drop-off to both Odawara Station and Gora Station, which makes getting there and around Hakone very convenient. Overall, it was a great stay — warm service, comfortable room, and delicious food. Definitely a place we’d love to come back to next time we’re in Hakone.

"Good location for the golden loop tour"

8.0

A good hotel as a starting point for the Golden Loop Tour. If you're not looking for a typical Japanese guesthouse and want international cuisine instead of a set menu, this is the place for you. The hotel is quite far from the train station and other restaurants. Only recommended if you want to stay and eat at the hotel in the evening or have a car. The hotel facilities are a bit outdated and cannot compete with the standard of hotels in Tokyo and Osaka. However, the hotel is well maintained and clean. The service is professional, with the exception of one waitress in the bar who consistently “overlooked” foreign guests when they wanted to order something. The best part of the hotel is the fireplace room, which is very cozy. The breakfast and food from the bar menu were okay, but not exceptional. Be sure to book a room with a mountain view. We would choose this hotel again.

"Relaxing Trip in Hakone"

10.0

My fiancé and I enjoyed our stay at Hyatt Regency in Hakone. The staff took great care of us - they answered all of our questions at check in. They had a cute note and sweets waiting in the room for his birthday. The room was serene and the view of the mountains was beautiful! We loved the Yukatas provided and even wore them to dinner (I wouldn't recommend wearing them to breakfast we were the only ones who did lol). The "living room" was so relaxing with the wood burning in the middle - we played a game of chess while we drank our welcome drinks. I wish we could've spent more time in the spa - we only spent one night, so they didn't have anymore massage reservations available. We both spent a little bit of time in the onsen and loved it! Overall, the property and staff were incredible we would highly recommend this hotel as a great place to stay during your time in Hakone!!

"Fabulous hotel"

10.0

Beautiful hotel in wonderful location. Room excellent, we had two double beds and a tatami style bed for our daughter. Room wonderfully spacious and decorated in a traditional Japanese way. Food excellent and staff very professional, attentive and polite. Breakfast was fantastic, with areas sectioned off for privacy, with wonderful views of the gardens all around. Loved our short stay and would definitely recommend. Shuttle service to various locations, including pick up and drop off from Odawara station, was fantastic.

"Overrated"

6.0

While our stay was ok, i expected much more from a Hyatt. First, we were surprised that they did not inform the customers in advance of their shuttle service from Odawara station as that would have made our travel to the hotel so much easier as it’s quite out of the way to bus all the way and then walk from the bus stop. Upon entering the hotel, we immediately noticed the heavy smell of smoke from their badly ventilated fireplace downstairs in the main gathering area. As for dining, while the service was good, their omakase sushi dinner was just mediocre sushi and certainly did not impress us especially in Japan. Upon our check out, we politely requested the front desk staff to remove a charge for breakfast that morning that we didn’t have and we overheard her office manager tell the staff to go verify it with the kitchen in Japanese obviously not knowing we spoke Japanese fluently. He was quite embarrassed when we replied to him in Japanese that we were not lying. Overall we thought the hotel was overpriced and did not meet the Hyatt standard we expected.
