Hyatt Regency Hakone Resort and Spa

We stayed in this hotel for 2 nights at the end of our tour of Japan. An excellent spot from which to enjoy the nature around Hakone. Our room was very nice, with a sort of enclosed balcony. Staff was very friendly and helpful, with an efficient pick-up at the Gora train station, smooth check-in. We also appreciated the flexibility in giving us a late check-out ( we had a midnight flight out of Haneda). Given the location we had our meals mostly in the hotel. Lunch in the "living room" and dinner in the western-style restaurant, which offered a fairly elaborate dinner menu. Because we were there mostly to enjoy some hiking in nature we didn't really use the hotel's spa facilities. Overall a very good experience.

Effortlessly incredible. I worked in the hotel industry for 20 years (not for Hyatt) and this hotel blew me away. The staff was amazing, rooms comfortable, food was perfect, cocktail hour fun and checked all the boxes we didn’t even know we had. What made it stand out was the relaxing atmosphere, beautiful grounds, location and then, service after we left! I was traveling with 2 young kids (3 and 6) and my youngest left behind his two stuffed animals. The hotel overnight shipped them to our next location with this special note. Don’t hesitate to book this hotel. It’s fantastic for all ages.

Beautiful well maintained hotel , Japanese hospitality at its best , rooms are great ,breakfast spread was great ! Really comfortable . Hotel provides shuttles to the station which is a huge plus !

The hotel is very peaceful. My room was in good condition with a great view overlooking the mountains. The room was much larger than I expected. I ate at both the Japanese restaurant and the more casual dining room. Both were excellent. The breakfast buffet had a good selection of both Japanese and western cuisine. The staff are detailed orientated. They often greet me by my name when I walked through the door. It's close to a number of attractions like the Hakone Ropeway which goes up the mountain. The open art museum is also close by. Both are worth a visit. One downside is that the walkability in the area outside the hotel is not good. There are narrow roads often with no sidewalks. I still went for several walks but it required taking quite a bit of care.

This place is on par with a grand Hyatt and has vibes consistent with park Hyatt. Love the complementary shuttle that made getting around easier. Breakfast buffet as globalist was amazing (my kids ate so many persimmons). We were upgraded to the regency suite which has futon beds on the tatami for my two littles and they loved it. The room was super spacious too (though no view but I was warned of that and am fine with it). Overall we loved our stay here and can’t wait to come back!

This was one of the best hotel experiences we have had in our travels. The entire staff was truly outstanding, as good as it gets. The service was fantastic, great spa and the sushi restaurant was a memorable dining experience. Although it can be a tricky area with the mountain and transportation, their complimentary shuttle service made it very easy to get around in Hakone. We really were not sure what to expect of the area and hotel and after this trip, i will highly recommend this location and property to everyone interested in Hakone.

Evening drinks & meal in the ‘the living room’. Good food and really excellent service from our server Puja, who was brilliant. She was so patient & helped us to make sure food allergies and dietary requirements were looked after.

We are an Italian family and we spent a vacation in Japan in August. Unfortunately, I suffered an injury in Hakone, a compound fracture of the tibia and fibula. Ambulance took me to the hospital but they weren't able to operate. We had to change hotel because we were staying in a ryokan with stairs and no elevator. Fortunately, we found a room at the Hyatt Hakone; we arrived late in the evening, exhausted, and I was in a lot of pain. Hyatt provides a wheelchair for me. We also received maximum support and flexibility from the staff; they provided us with food and took us to our room, and guaranteed a late checkout while we looked for a hospital in Tokyo. They found us—during a major holiday—a van that took us to Tokyo.Thank you!

Hotel is lovely but food service appalling. Waited over 40 mins for an omelette at breakfast and dinner was a fiasco as we hadn’t pre booked the bbq experience (despite calling from the UK prior and being told we can sort on arrival). They did accommodate but the bbq you’re given to cook is tiny and inefficient. In the end we had to ask the kitchen to cook as kids were starving - not quite the premium experience we paid for. Hotel was lovely but we had exception service throughout Japan so the issues here were unexpected and avoidable given what they charge.
