The Umstead Hotel and Spa

I usually love this resort and am really fond of the spa. This time was different. I wanted to book a massage and tried approximately two months in advance, but there was no availability. I always look forward to visiting this resort when my husband stays there for work. Because there was no massage availability, I booked a reservation at the spa for a pedicure so that I could also experience the spa amenities. I arrived for my appointment only to be told I could not use the amenities unless I booked a massage or spent a certain amount of money in the spa. This was utterly disappointing as there was no information that I could find that specifically stated this policy. This was the first time that I had ever not enjoyed my stay at this hotel and it truly makes me not ever want to return.

AMAZING!! I’m a former diplomat and have traveled the world. This hotel is one of a kind and their restaurant, Herons, is insane!

i stayed here a little while back in november and have been meaning to write this review!!! ive just been so busy but it's never dropped my mind. i had an AMAZING stay at the umstead. it was a spontaneous getaway i planned to enjoy the fall season before i headed back to miami from new york. i had a great time and it was all in part to jaclyn!! i traveled solo but when i did wander down to the lobby for some ultimate hot cider she was always there to greet me with a smile and a good morning :) i was looking forward to exploring the property and the wooded trail outback and jaclyn personally walked me through the ground floor to ensure i found the proper entrance. it's the little things people do that make the greatest impact and it reflected greatly on the umstead. amazing facility, location, and service. i definitely look forward to returning for another stay this time with my lover for sure 😍

I normally stay in hotels that aren't in this class and price range. But I really enjoyed it. The location, the architecture, the large rooms with beautiful bathrooms, the artworks everywhere, the cosy bar area with live music. The breakfast was healthy and delicious. It was great.

Customer Service was top notch.

What a fantastic place and property! The staff was so amazing and so kind! We had great food, breakfast, lunch and dinners! The rooms are incredible and comfortable! The lake is so so nice to have to take walks!! The spa! What a great one! We spent hours in there relaxing and reading and taking advantage of all the mineral tub, sauna, steam room and outside! Wow!

We went to the Umstead to stay overnight celebrating our anniversary. The staff at the Hotel and at Heron’s made everything special. Our room was terrific as was our meal. They made us feel special and treated every guest with dignity and courtesy. We highly recommend and worth the price. You will leave feeling wonderful!

A beautiful hotel. Good standards. A good restaurant.

This regards the restaurant at the Umsted in Cary, NC. A friend and I had Saturday brunch there and it was certainly disappointing. The staff is very pleasant and helpful, however, our food was far from good. I had avocado toast, which was heavily laden with a not good cheese and not at all worth eating. My friend had a cheese omelet, which was cold when served and I believe, reheated and still not right. Very disappointing since it was my birthday brunch and not at all good.
