The Cove at Atlantis

This is our 4th time visiting the Atlantis and will be our last. The staff is indifferent (bordering on rude). They have not control over the Spring Breakers, slamming doors, yelling the hallways to all hours of the night. If you're a married couple, looking to enjoy a relaxing vacation - look somewhere else.

Went for Food and Wine Festival- that was fine but Spring Breakers came in and we're obnoxious, and loud. Under age drinking everwhere- very disappointing! If you want to hang out in adult only pool area then start acting like adults.

Very nice resort. Have stayed here before. Very affordable with the all inclusive option. Stayed here and was able to visit friends over at Atlantis. Had the best of both worlds.

I went to attend the NPIWFF - which was overall great. I especially enjoyed the R&B Brunch, Stayed at the Cove. The grounds and exterior were beautiful but the rooms are dated and I don’t like carpet in the room. The room did not provide a luxury experience. All of the staff we encountered were polite and kind with a special shout out to Kelly at reception and the housekeeping staff. Also, the sling break kids were overwhelming.

We had an experience that we hope was an exception to the rule. The room would not cool down despite two efforts to fix it. They offered another room but it would not cool either. Our room was missed one day by room service. We had to call twice to get what we needed. The TV quit working and had to be reset. The phones quit working and were not fixed. We all took cold showers one evening. It was one thing after another. This was by far the worst hotel experience we've ever had and we travel a lot. By the way, half of the waterpark slides were not open during the entire stay.

Overall good experience. With a little attention to detail I think it could have been wonderful. Hot showers would be nice for the rooms and concierge who are more willing to assist.

We had a wonderful, relaxing time at the Cove. Here are the pluses: Room was great, well-appointed and housekeeping did an amazing job. Everyone at the resort was really friendly and the service was top notch. Even though it is a huge resort, it never felt that crowded. Minuses: If you are looking for an adult experience, go elsewhere. There are young families all over the place (nothing against young families). The Cove pool which is supposed to be all adult is not. Not only that, my daughter who is 19 but looks younger due to a disability was CARDED at the pool. Meanwhile there were teenagers all over the pool. If you are going to card young looking adults at least be consistent. Speaking of teenagers, it was spring break for some private high schools in the US and despite having chaperones, there were obnoxious teens everywhere- at the restaurants, bars, and in the casino. Again, nothing against teens but it’s annoying to have to deal with that kind of behavior when you are on vacation. It’s expensive. Having said all of that, the Bahamas is beautiful and well worth some of the annoyances (except the carding of my daughter).

Overall we enjoyed our 10 day stay at the Cove. The upscale open air lobby and beautiful grounds were very much appreciated. Same for our spacious, very comfortable deluxe ocean view suite with a huge, beautiful bathroom and beautiful view. The elevators were plentiful and all functioning well. The Cove was a peaceful retreat compared to the very busy Royal Tower where we ate breakfast at the buffet every morning. The Waterpark and Marina Village at Atlantis are both excellent, The beach by the Reef Hotel was the best- sheltered from wind and high waves, with nice soft sand and a long peaceful walking stretch. The shuttle buses between the hotels run very often. The majority of the staff were very friendly and helpful, particularly the concierge and housekeeping staff. There is plentiful security at Atlantis ensuring that no one accesses areas unpaid for, and rules are enforced, such as that only adults of The Cove can access the adults only pool area at The Cove. We observed that this level of security is much needed at the Atlantis. We encountered some negatives- there was noisy drilling work being done along the Cove hotel’s walls, making the balcony unpleasant to use. The Reef Pool, and a tiny square pool in The Cove adult pool area, were the only heated pools we could find at Atlantis. The other pools have cold water, as does the Rapids River and slides. The pools also played music much too loudly. The Cove is located on a point, and on very windy days (8 out of the 10 days we were there), the adult pools area is very exposed to the wind, and we found it too uncomfortable to use. The Reef pool was better sheltered, but was very busy and it was sometimes hard to find a lounge chair. Many of the lounge chairs, particularly on the Reef beach, had broken canopies, which was unfortunate as there were no umbrellas. Our room could have benefited from a new carpet. Marriott Platinum status gives you zero recognition at the Cove. Not even a higher floor than the 6th floor we were assigned (sold out, claimed the unhelpful check in agent). The hotel was NOT sold out, except on the weekend in the middle of our 10 day stay. No effort was made to rejig our assigned room. Platinum members also get no free breakfast. We knew this upon booking, and chose a price that included a buffet breakfast - only to discover upon check in the buffet breakfast is in the Royal Tower, not The Cove. This meant schlepping over there or taking a shuttle bus every morning, a huge time waste for us. The food at all the restaurants at Atlantis are overpriced for the quality. An exception is the Fish restaurant at the Cove, which lives up to its hype. Robes were missing from our room upon check in, and it took a few days for them to finally arrive despite our immediate request.
