We recently stayed in this hotel for a weekend getaway for a friend's birthday. It was somewhat of a last minute choice but we had never been to the area before. I have stayed at hotels in larger cities like Chicago and New York and I must say that this hotel for the price point was a sad disappointment. If you are a fan of architecture then you might be happy to stay here because it was a former Temple. But for me that was one of a few highlights of my stay there. The room that we had was very large but it was sparsely decorated and the furniture layout was very strange. The windows were blacked out so you could not see outside. The bathroom was so dark that my wife could not see to put on makeup. It was as if they took a large room and threw in a bed, a chair, and they table and didn't care where they went. The location was in downtown next to the capital building which was great for seeing that part of the city. There is a restaurant that is adjoining to the hotel but the service there is hit and miss. The breakfast service from our first day was somewhat disappointing because the server seem to be having a very bad day considering her attitude. Luckily our breakfast on our final day found us with a much happier server. Lastly to the price point of this room, I have stayed in larger rooms in Chicago, New York, and Disney World on a concierge floor for less money. The value of this hotel is just not there for the price point. Perhaps a better solution would be to look elsewhere for the money.

This elegant transformation of a former Masonic temple was a real surprise since the photos on Expedia looked as if taken at a Holiday Inn. While the rooms are understated, they are just the right size, and everything seemed new and of good quality. (The bathroom hardware is especially beautiful.) The room was completely quiet, and, unexpectedly, the pillows were just right--one firm and the other soft and downy. The masonic theme, beginning with two regal thrones in the lobby, as smarly carried throughout the corridors and rooms.

Fantastic customer service! Lucy and Jillian at the front desk were true live savers. I had asked to get checked in early, and Lucy was able to put me on the waitlist, with Jillian getting me a room. Super grateful to both of them. The hotel itself is in a great location. Within walking distance of the mall and downtown Providence, there’s a lot to do. The decor of the hotel is fun, it has character and is certainly memorable. Notably there is only valet parking. There’s a mall parking garage right up the street that at the time of writing is half the price. Our room was large and very clean. I am very much a “neat freak” regarding hotel rooms, and I was satisfied here. Due to the great service we received, I would definitely stay here again.

For a hotel that claims to be a 4-star experience, this was pretty meh. Food in the restaurant was average. I got oatmeal with berries and there were like 6 berries in there, and the oatmeal was pretty obviously from a box and mixed with water. No robes in the room closet. Also, no lunch options for room service. Kitchen appeared to be closed between 11 and 4. View out of the window was of a parking lot. The bed and blankets were clean and decent, and room certainly was spacious enough. But I would not call the experience luxurious or even close to it…
