Renaissance Providence Downtown Hotel

Pro: Hotel is very nice and clean. Room AC can get really cold, which is what we wanted. Hotels barely get under 65 degrees and we were at 57 and in heaven! Room was clean and organized. Eh: View was crap, facing a parking garage and the back of the hotel. No problem, didn't mind. Doors to bathroom and closet were hard to open. As long as you're not doing the pee dance, you won't have much of an issue with that. Con: The only real con was parking when we first checked in. A very nice valet came to me while I was in the car and I told him that I was just waiting for my husband to check us in and then he'll park it. Valet said there's no parking at the hotel, it's only valet available. I texted my husband so he knows and I got out of the car and started getting our bags. Husband comes out, after checking in, and says he's parking the car and not doing valet. He was told, (very aggressively, he noted) by the male front desk agent, that there is no parking except for valet or street parking. The agent stressed that street parking will lead to a ticket and he strongly recommends valet. Valet is $45. Husband parked in the secured garage less than 1 minute walk from the hotel for $20. We don't understand why push the valet when there is a very large garage right next door with a big mall. We are irritated because the push made us feel like the hotel thought we were idiots and wouldn't know any better and just pay the $45. To go as far as saying it'll be ticketed is to tell us that we had no choice but to use the hotels valet, which is untrue. The valet attendant didn't push for the valet, he said the hotel only does valet, and didn't have their own parking. We get recommending valet for convenience and because they have it available but for the agent to flat out lie that the only other parking available will lead to getting a ticket which of course will stress us out is irresponsible and unprofessional. My husband made sure to remind me twice to write this review and how they handled the parking situation.

Property was beautiful. People nice. Du ing great. Very walkable

They canceled my reservation for the first night I was there. Rebooked me at another hotel however it was very frustrating. I emailed the director about my experience and didn’t hear back very disappointing.

All was good, but an unsatisfying view from the room

Definitely enjoyed the Renaissance

Very easy check-in, they text you when your room is ready. The restaurant on site is wonderful, but there’s also many more you can walk to.
