Stockwood Hotel

We were greeted politely and nice enough however room was very basic and cups were dirty, pillows were stained and the bathroom needed a good scrub.

Tremendous value for money.Self service continental breakfast.

It was a business stay. So the hotel had everything I needed. A bed, a shower, it was clean.

Before I go into any negatives, I must say, the hotel staff were exceptionally friendly and helped me with everything I asked. The bathroom was revoltingly mouldy and cramped. When sitting on the loo, my right arm touched the wall and my left against the sink. The bed was two singles pushed together to make for an uncomfortable sleeping position in the centre of the bed. The local area has nothing in it bar a petrol station. I suffer with IBS and I usually know when to avoid eating at places, this was one of those instances where my gut told me not to eat breakfast here. The hotel corridors and staircases are scared with dents, scraps and filthy wall paint. The carpets are worn and well trodden. The paper thin drywall that has been put in places to make more rooms is exactly that, paper thin. I could hear every word and cough my neighbour had. And to top the whole thing off, the hotel doesn’t meet with HSE safety regulations since I could have easyily thrown myself out of the 2nd floor window (30+ft up)

I read and was informed that there was a residents bar which was open until 11pm. On arrival I asked about the bar, they said there was no bar and suggested that there was one nearby which I declined. The were selling minerals and wine which was in a glass case on wall in reception. I purchased a bottle of wine for £10. Carpets on staircase looked awful. Walls on staircase badly needed to be painted.

They say they have a restaurant and bar in their hotel statement on Hotels.com, they DON'T have either! They say breakfast included. A British hotel I take that to mean full English. It's NOT! The whole place smelled of stale smoke and the bed was crap with a thin base nylon sheet. I slept on top of the duvet. Never again will I book this place.

The Car Park is very tight. Room was ok for the price no issues had a good nights sleep.

The exterior, lobby and hallways of the hotel aren't the best, however, the room was very decent. For the price, it's definitely worth staying here - especially if you have a flight from Luton Airport. We left our car here for half the fee we were being quoted from the airport.

Enjoyed the stay overall. One comment: There is foul smell in the room, typically like toilet smell pow Ssibly from bathroom, specially when we entered the room after spending whole day out. Otherwise all good at the given price.

Booked through hotels.com and it should have been pay at hotel option but this hotel charged card with no warning as they decided to change their policy without letting anyone know in advance.
