"Recent stay at Tui Blue Riu Tikida Beach."

6.0

Just recently returned from Tui Blue Riu Tikida Beach Resort. Weather was not great but no one could change that. Positives- Lovely adults only hotel. Right on the beach promenade so was ideal for walking. Room was good size and had all the amenities you required. Cleaned on a daily basis and new beds were put in whilst we were there. Fridge contained cans of soda and bottle of water on arrival. Water bottles replenished each day but cans of soda weren't. Wasnt too sure if they should have been. Room was on the second floor and overlooked a hotel that was being refurbished, but the noise didn't bother us as the work happened during the day. Tui reps were great and were never too pushy. Always stopped and chatted. Entertainment was average but something to sit and watch or listen to each evening. Plenty of seating areas indoors and out. Had one visit to the Al la Carte which was very nice. If we could of we would have returned. Entertainment bar- Staff friendly and always came round asking if you wanted anything. Negatives- Food in the buffet restaurants was often luke warm. I know that there was a microwave but who wants to be microwaving their food!. Coffee pot and tea urn at breakfast was lukewarm. Ended up just using the coffee machine as the water from there was hotter. Swimming pool- Never did I see it being cleaned the whole week we were there, despite seagulls and pigeons using it for splashing around in if no one was in the pool. On occasions serviettes had blown into the pool and remained there for three days before I removed them. The hotels clientele consisted mainly of English and French. We felt that the French got preferential treatment around the pool and in the pool and snack bar. We never got asked for a drink here but the waiters would ask the french guests. Guests probably got better service if they tipped upfront but i personally feel that you shouldn't have to tip to get good service. We have travelled to many countries and have stayed in many hotels and are happy to tip if you have had good service which we do. I gave the hotel 3/5 because of the issues that we encountered. Would i return? Yes if these issues were corrected.

"3 for the hotel 0 for the food quality"

6.0

The 3 was for the hotel itself. The catering deserves nothing more than a zero. Food on the majority of days was lukewarm warm - the chicken during the early part of our stay was not cooked through which we assume is what caused the campylobacter my husband succumbed to with the result being he lost half his holiday and also a week sick off work upon returning to the UK. We raised our concerns about the fact that the food wasn’t warm enough and the response was “ we will put it in the microwave” hardly a solution to undercooked food is it! The pastries were invariably either stale or undercooked everyday and all the food wasn’t uncovered which seems very odd. The lunchtime buffet in the newer building seemed a little better as there was not so much on offer however the same issue seemed to be happening there - the hot food was just not kept warm enough. For the first few days the coffee from the machines was not drinkable - I don’t know what they had done to it but it was just disgusting. To make matters worse the milk provided on the last day was off! I dread to think how they manage in the warmer months if they can’t even get the basics right during the earlier part of the season. We visited Agadir last year and stayed in the hotel next door, which by comparison (on paper) would be at best a 3 star however after staying in the TUI hotel it was way better catering wise than this supposed 4.5 star hotel. How they have that rating I don’t know - I guess it’s because it is on the beachfront and has a nice pool area! It’s certainly not for the quality of drinks or food! We are so disappointed that our return to TUI (after a bad experience some years ago) has ended in such a way - they need to review their catering arrangements to ensure everything is as it should be. Will I go AI with TUI again - definitely not. Will I use TUI again - it would take a lot to entice us back considering how ill my husband has been. This was supposed to be a nice break with friends, how it turned out was far from that! I just hope that TUI take this as seriously as it should considering that our GP has had to notify the authorities due to the severity of this illness. Agadir itself is great as are the people - just a shame that bad hygiene/cooking practices led to such an awful experience.

"It feels like coming home"

10.0

Every time I arrive in the hotel it feels like coming home. I was lucky I had 5 very nice and sunny days after a week of a lot of rain. It was a bit cool in the morning but I still managed to sleep with an open balcony door and could hear the waves of the ocean in the night...lovely !! They have renovated the restaurant near the sea front - it looks nice. I hope the tourists will respect the new seats and don't sit with wet clothes on them. They were renovating the cupboards, doors and woodwork in some rooms near to my room but the noise what not annoying as they worked during the day. As always it is the staff in this hotel that makes my holidays: Brahim, Abdu, Mohamed, young Mohamed, Hela, Karim.... I enjoyed your kindness and your enthousiam for the Moroccan football team. They deserved to win the finale.

"Christmas Break"

8.0

Our second trip to the hotel, we arrived at approximately 2230 there was no provision for food so we went to bed hungry, this was disappointing as in other properties a snack has been provided to late comers. I had checked in online in advance of our stay on the RIU app which saved time at reception, we were acknowledged as returning guests by the team member who gave us our keys, our request for a quiet room was recognised but sadly, the special occasion we were celebrating was not acknowledged. We had a standard double room which was a bit rough around the edges – curtains falling off their runner, bathroom mirror falling off the wall and a broken bin in the bathroom – all things that a quick quality check in between guests would have easily spotted, we reported and they were fixed the same day. The room was clean and comfortable, with ample storage space. The fridge is supplied with water and soft drinks, I had to request replenishment when they were all consumed. The bath towels are small, thin, grey and threadbare. No goodies are supplied in the bathroom apart from shower gel. The shower was slow to drain and quickly became a paddling pool. As others have mentioned, prime location sunbeds get reserved at early doors, that said, there are more than enough to go around if you aren’t overly fussy about where you sit, my only gripe is that they aren’t wiped down by the cleaning team. Pool towels are provided and can be swapped for clean replacements without any restrictions. Food in the restaurants is acceptable, towards the end of the week the choices became repetitive, we did not use the a la carte which would no doubt provide further options. The Christmas gala meal on 24 December was very impressive. It is irritating that waiting staff reserve tables for guests by pouring glasses of wine to give the impression that they are occupied. There is plenty of space to relax. Evening entertainment was typical, with the anorak wearing gentleman singer being particularly memorable for all the wrong reasons. On one occasion we returned to our room for the night at 2130 to discover that maintenance was being carried out in room next door – installation of fixtures and fittings that was accompanied by lots of banging and the use of power tools. We phoned reception to ask when the noise would abate, they denied there was any work taking place! The noise continued and we had to complain once again in order to put a stop to the work. Reception staff aside, the staff are the hotel’s greatest asset. They cannot do enough to make sure that your stay is comfortable. One major issue worth raising is security, during our stay a housekeeping trolley was left in the corridor outside our room with passes unattended. There is a safe provided in the room, where we stored our valuables for the duration of the trip. Upon our return to the UK we discovered that we had a shortfall of £20 in the cash that we had taken with us, I had withdrawn a specific amount for the trip to exchange for Moroccan dinar if it was needed, and the notes were the only ones in my purse together with the cashpoint receipt, apart from walking locally, we didn’t leave the hotel during our break so had no need for local currency. I mentioned at the start of my review that this was our second visit to the property, after our first trip I had some fraudulent transactions on my credit card that originated in Morocco. I did not use the credit card in during our first trip, but it is coincidental that it was also left in the safe for the duration of our stay. We had originally booked to go to the Canaries for Christmas, something that we have done for the last 10 years, our change of plan was absolutely the right decision. This holiday was extraordinary value for money in comparison and despite some of the irritations mentioned, we will certainly consider a return during the festive season next year.

"Disappointed waste of money"

2.0

Thoroughly disappointed. Went in October. Initial room had strong waft of drains. Second room had strong waft of drains. Shower blocked fixed after a day. Offered a 3rd room but gave up as so time consuming. Food quality poor often not hot and variable in such as uncooked hardboiled eggs and inedible scrambled eggs. Construction work outside room for 8am. TUi have failed to deal with this complaint just got fobbed off by customer. Service offered £125 compensation, this does not reflect how poor holiday was. This is all compared to a TUI hotel in Marrakech which was faultless. Will not use TUI again.

"Lovely Hotel but make sure your water bottle is sealed and open it yourself as they are filling it with tap water"

6.0

On the face of it a lovely hotel, but after spending 4 nights here you start to see through. My friend experienced extreme stomach cramps and was in pain I could not sleep due to his screaming in the night and constant visits to the toilet. We tried to work out what it could be, perhaps the salad? After further investigation we found out it to be the bottled water they serve here, it is not always sealed and we noticed especially at lunch time half empty bottles of water, unsealed bottles. We then found out that they had been refilling bottles with non-potable tap water. I asked the family next to us how they were enjoying their holiday at lunchtime in the pool restaurant, all Okay apart from their son had been in bed all day yesterday with stomach pain. I asked him what he had been drinking - and then I noticed he was sipping the water as I was asking the question. I told him to stop. We must all check the seal on the bottled water. To a local Moroccan stomach the tap water may be okay, but to tourists it is not and highly dangerous. In the bedrooms they do not even have the sign on the tap saying non-potable. But to serve refilled bottles of water in the restaurant is a big no no. I looked at where they store the water, and found several unsealed bottles in ice, ready for the next poor guest. This is unacceptable and I will be contacting the local health department, TUI, and RIU and the GM directly. Effectively this Hotel could be closed down due to further notice. Such a shame, as the house keeping staff are so friendly and always provide sealed bottles of tap water. Because the pool restaurant is the other side of the hotel, I believe staff are to lazy to deliver these fresh sealed bottles. But I have also noticed it in the evening restaurant as well. Be careful in both what you eat and drink. Always watch the Bar Man make your drink, if he goes to back room, think about what he could be doing to your drink especially if you did not tip him or perhaps if he has a bad day. My tips are to be very careful, check the seal yourself and open carefully to make sure it is a brand new bottle of water. Do not let the waiter open it for you - that is a sure sign that it is local dangerous tap water. Here are my personal notes I made earlier for this review and also for the local health department/company head office: I am here now they are refilling bottles of water with non potable tap water and serving bottles unsealed. My investigation included first hand stomach pains all night and an investigation finding unsealed and half empty bottles specifically at the lunch serving restaurant by the pool. One waitress lady was very defensive over one bottle which was unsealed in her selection of ice chilled bottles and grabbed it off me. Speaking to another family their son had been in bed all day yesterday and was now again drinking the same water. I told him to stop. Check your bottles. When asking for a sealed safe bottle it is hard to find. Lunch restaurant midday is the culprit. The water is served unsealed. You are drinking non potable tap water. We are informing the Manager and health department. Have marked this hotel as Average due to other staff being really friendly. But the waitress lady (Hamza) and other staff in the restaurants know exactly what they are doing - especially when they are being so defensive and grabbing the bottle off me.

"Never again!"

6.0

The food was so bland i came home addicted to salt! The rooms need a serious update. Staff were amazing but only after they had been tipped. The hotel grounds were lovely and in a good location. Unfortunatly its not a hotel to go to unless your over 50, entertainment wasnt very good. It was a lovely country that id go to again but would choose another hotel. Also the hotel is extreamly noisy from the nightclubs around and the renovations in the hotel that we were not made aware of before we went.

"November 20th for 2 weeks"

8.0

Lovely hotel, nice pool, great grounds and a lovely beach. Hotel staff are amazing and look after you all of the time. A great holiday, however the food needs to be slightly better. They talk about Moroccan spices yet no curries were served in 14 days and the food was bland with no flavour. We still.loved this hotel but the entertainment was poor, and would have been better just by playing music every night so people could dance too music. Playing music from the 80,s 90,s and any motown would have filled the dance floors. Your dj,s don't quite understand this. Overall, still very good. But could be better

"Amazing hotel. Book it now!"

10.0

Well this was our second visit to TUI RIU Tikida Beach and it did not disappoint. In fact it gets better and better. Excellent food, immaculate and spacious rooms, wonderful staff and incredible service. The hotel’s size is perfect - not too large - which means you easily get to know the staff and they get to know you too. They go out of their way to ensure you have what you need to make your stay as great as possible. I would like to give personal thanks / shout outs to: Hamza who kept us laughing and topped up with drinks around the pool. Mohammed on the beach who kept the private beach area immaculate and safe for the hotel guests. Faysal - on the bar in the evenings: what a gorgeous person inside and out! Always attentive and so efficient! Ilias who was only there for the first few days of this visit as he had to take time off to go and visit his sick mum. Again his service around the pool was notably helpful and kind. Yusuf in the bar in the evenings also went above and beyond with keeping us with a drink and snacks in our hands. Thank you Yusuf. And finally the spa - we had a beautiful Hammam experience and also a wonderful massage. Lina in the spa was so helpful! Also to the TUI team who ensured we had fun at the hotel with games and dancing and also had friendly advice and were ALWAYS happy to help - especially Laura, Karolina and Jose. Thank you all. We had a wonderful time and can’t wait to return. If you’re reading this wondering whether to book this hotel - all I will say is that people we spoke to there had tried several hotels in Agadir and this one was the only one they kept returning to. I have never stayed anywhere quite like it. Love it and can’t wait to return!

"Great holiday"

8.0

This was our first trip to Morroco. The hotel was spotlessly clean and the staff in the bars, restaurants and reception were all so friendly. Room was regularly cleaned with clean towels each day. The food was good plenty of choices. Drinks constantly topped up throughout. Good entertainment in the evening in bar Casablanca. Negatives were air con was not very effective but we had a ceiling fan which helped. Also on the app it states that you can’t reserve sunbeds however we found that unless you had your towel down by 7 am the best ones were gone. We ended up having to do the same. Having spoken to several people during our stay it seems people come to the hotel year after year and I can see why. It’s in a fab location with private beach area. All in all a great holiday and would certainly recommend
