Abbey Sands Hotel

Location was fantastic, it was quiet too no evening noise. The bed was nice and slept well. Reception staff was nice. Very close to the beach. Great value for money.

The pool area looked uncared for. The changing room shower wasn't up to standards. The stairway was dusty. True honest review. I would 100% stay at this Hotel again despite a few little floors.

My wife and I booked 3 nights in this property to cover the Torquay air display show. We arrived on the Friday by train and I had already enquired about leaving our bags as we would be earlier than the 15.00 check in. On arrival at about 11.45 we was received by a friendly receptionist and our bags were taken to be stored. She also advised that we may be ok to check in earlier , we arrived back about 13.30 with a view to if the room was not ready we would have a drink in the bar and sit outside on the garden area. We were told that the room was ready and the lady fetched our bags and carried them to the room for us, room 122. The hotel was extremely clean and our room was found to be a family room with double and single bed. Well stocked drinks area and also bathroom utilities. The beds were comfortable and again clean and the room had a fan in the wardrobe and a air drier in the draw. Slight down side was that the TV could perhaps be a size larger but as we only slept in the room its only a comment. The hotel is also situated good for busses in both directions and the train station. There is also on site car parking which we did not require. There is also a indoor pool but we did not visit this. We would use this accommodation again.

It was well situated , and very quiet.

It was grubby, clean on surface Out door pool was unable to use, indoor pool at 1.4 meters all areas , unusable for children. The changing rooms were discussing, toilet seat just left on the floor.

Nice room, good breakfast.

Lack of outdoor pool, shouldn't advertise it on the website, really needs basic maintenance especially outside.

Good position and convenient to all local amenities.

Staff very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was great. Right next to park and beach. Car parking. Good choice TV channels. Beds comfortable once on them.

Rooms very outdated. No air-conditioning. Very hot and stuffy. Old style plug in fans no good. Carpets and furniture dirty. Filth behind bath plugs. Four poster bed in one room too high to get onto. Balcony condemned as unsafe. Pool outside not in use. Grass growing around it and ducks living in it. Pooland jacuzzi inside dirty, murky water and changing rooms not good. No children allowed. Only one old bedside lamp with 3 pin socket!

Big spacious family room. Friendly staff, comfy beds and was very clean
