Fontana Village Resort & Marina

Really great time. Lots of fun things to do.

First time I visited Fontana Village RESORT was a thrill. When we rolled in to the main building, it was a gorgeous, peaked ceiling lobby with welcoming, fireplaces, and conversation pits, very impressive! It was a motorcycle trip for my then boyfriend and now husband and I. We ended up in a honeymoon suite with a heart shaped whirlpool tub, and a gorgeous pool just outside our back windows. That was eight years ago. We’ve been back almost every year since and requested the same room. We skipped the summer of 24 because of all the bad storms. We are back May 2025 and I am so disappointed to find that the original pool has been filled in and covered with Astroturf. I understand the new pool and lazy river for the kids, but I still think the old pool should’ve been heated and reserved for adult only. The new check-in is also lackluster. The original lodge was very impressive. The new check-in is at The General Store. Not quite as welcoming and warm as it used to be. I will continue to return here here after year, but I would suggest they get a new marketing agent or general manager? Whoever it was, they made the decision to limit the resort area to only one pool might not have been the greatest person to make that decision.

I stayed in the hotel style rooms. I liked I could walk to the food venue and food hall.

It was beautiful the room was clean and nice no hairdryer in the room had to ask for one they were out no soap had to ask for it. Towels were thick and had 4 towels and wash clothes

This was my 2nd stay a Fontana Village with a decent sized car group. Both times I stayed in the garden rooms. I have also been inside the upgraded main lodge rooms and the courtyard rooms. Since both trips were focused on driving the tail, I didn't spend much time in the room. The main lodge common areas are great especially the conversation pit. While there are no microwaves in the garden rooms, there is a accessible microwave in the lower main lodge (across from the courtyard rooms), there is however mini fridges. Personally if I was there for rest and relaxation I would pick a lodge room or a courtyard room. Quills is a great spot for a quick dinning and Hazels food is delish with those great views. I didn't get to hit Hazel's this year but look forward to next years trip. Overall the staff is amazing and goes above & beyond expectation! This is coming from a retired travel agent who is used to Ritz, Waldorf, and St Regis level hotel staff. While Fontana is not a 5 star resort it's hometown charm, fantastic staff, and historic location definitely make it worth visiting when in the area. The room cost is well within norms for a mountain lodge and the whole property was also very clean. While staying there last week my car suffered a massive failure and needed to be transported away several days after my departure. The front desk staff was super accommodating and even printed off the order details for the transport and placed it in my car. I am looking forward to my next trip to the mountains and Fontana Village!

Do not stay in the Garden Villas. They are beyond outdated, smell, in poor condition, WiFi is spotty, tv barely worked, AC was beyond loud. Donna at check in was super nice and helpful! Only stay in the main lodge, that’s where the pictures are from.

Beautiful property. Lots of activities for the family. Tons of hiking with many trail heads within walking distance. Very friendly staff. Great room.

Location and layout is great. I was happy to get an entire cottage to myself since I had a truck and trailer.

No hot water for a shower in the morning after a one-night stay.

Walls were VERY thin. Could hear the guests in the adjoining rooms. Rooms were clean. WiFi was OK.
