Beautiful setting. Resort is miserably mismanaged. My reservation was confirmed by email with a confirmation number and I received a call a week later that there was an error and I could not reserve that cottage.i was able to make a different reservation for a different time in a cottage that was not my first or second choice ( 8 months ahead) Front desk was inexperienced and uninformed. No one seemed to be in charge. Staff members were not considerate. 4 of them with 3 vehicles parked within 40 feet of our cabin where we were very clearly relaxing on the porch and had a 1.hour and 45 minutegossip and complaint session. We could hear every word. Another time we had 2 of the cleaning staff arguing loudly between 2 cottages. Our “Housekeeping Cottage” that sleeps 6 and costs $350 per night had 3 coffee cups 1 teaspoon and not enough equipment, dishes and silverware to make and serve a simple meal. I requested more coffee cups but never received them. I then gave up on ther kitchen. The linen exchange did not work properly. When I left washcloths out for exchange, I received bath towels and a pot holder but no washcloths. A beautiful natural setting Resort prices without the resort style accommodations and staffing. What a shame.
I don’t typically write negative reviews unless it’s truly warranted but in this case, it is. If I had known the state of this cabin beforehand, I would not have booked it. We understand that cabins in certain locations can be rustic, and we’re fine with things being a little outdated. What we are not fine with is a lack of basic cleanliness. When we arrived, we found mouse feces on the bed sheet and on the countertop. There was rust on nearly every appliance, and the oven had visible dirt dripping down the side. The stovetop burners still had food crusted on them. The sofas were stained and covered in dog hair and we are a dog-friendly family, but this was beyond acceptable. The bathroom mirrors and floor looked like they hadn’t been cleaned in a very long time. We did contact customer service during our stay, and they took notes for housekeeping, but unfortunately that didn’t resolve the fact that the cabin should never have been in this condition for incoming guests. This could have been a great stay if even basic cleaning standards were met, but unfortunately, that was not the case here
Old outdated facility that once had it's hay day but not today. We were there for a family get together and after first night was moved from garden room because the whole rooms floor was wet and centipedes were crawling around. They moved us to the updated lodge and said there would be no upcharge since we did not request the move and had already prepaid for our stay. They lied and there was an upcharge that we were charged. No response from Fontana. Some of our family stayed in the "cottages" and one family stayed in the same cottage 7 years ago and it still had the same old furniture. Breakfast buffet was $65 for three of us. The marina was nice and the boat rental was great. The lake is beautiful and was our highlight.
Beautiful grounds, staff was friendly and helpful. We had a wonderful time here.
Me and my family went to enjoy a long weekend the service was terrible we seen about 5 mice in a span of about 3 minutes we also seen a black snake btw the cabin number 1715
Everuthing was wonderful except for the lodge room ajoining room door. Thst door is paper thin and yiu can hear everything yiir neighbor does. We had our TV at 20 volume level and they complained it wa stoo loud I could here her on her phone and the entire conversation. Ask for a room with out an ajpining room door. You will thank me. Also wish they had a little more variety on the breakfast buffet. Maybe add some yogurt or oatmeal. It was Alot of carbs.
We have stayed here for years at cabins but got a handicapped accessible room in the Garden section A. There was a ramp and the room was accessible but there was no nearby HC parking. That is an easy fix to make one of the nearby parking spots HC.
Such a fun time! The layout was interesting. We picked this so we could ride dragon tail. So glad we found it. The pool and lazy river were amazing!!
Beautiful area
What a great place! My family and I had a blast. We stayed in the Lodge and had a nice room and bathroom. Unfortunately the restaurant in the Lodge was closed that week due to a death in an employees family. I liked that the owners supported their employee. Family atmosphere is abundant. The pool and lazy river were great. My son is 11 and he played with the other kids and had fun. They had fire pits all over. Mini golf course, corn hole, Jenga. Disc golf also. It is very isolated(which I liked) but The restaurants and bar were pricey. The food was great and they had a good game room too. All in all we loved the experience and plan on going back.
