Sunstays Lagoon Beach

Sunstays Loagoon Beach was the perfect place to stay the comfort of an apartment with the option to use amenities of the Hotel, a very good combination. The location is perfect, very close to Cape Town City Center and easy to get around, easy access to Freeways to get anywhere quickly. We will definitely stay there again.

I think almost the entire staff is seasonal.

We were very impressed with the size of our apartment and the whole place was clean and well designed. The staff were friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend this place so long as you have a car to get into town. Mind you it looked like they were building a tram system right nearby which should be open soon.

First thing to point out is the Lagoon beach apartments and hotel, although physically joined together are independent of each other, however we were able to make use of hotel facilities including the hotel shuttle bus to and from the centre of Cape Town. The apartment s were a lot further from the centre than first thought and you will have to use a bus / taxi or hire car, it's much too far to walk. Facilities around the complex are limited and although the two restaurants were good you'd quickly tire of them and want to try the ones in Cape Town. Eating is cheap and very very high quality with excellent wine to go with it. Cape Town is an amazing place, I'd go back again but stay closer to the centre for convenience.

I would choose this hotel. It was discribed as a self-catering apartment. We had 2 bedrooms with 2 bathrooms, a small but workable kitchen, dinning area, living room area and an outside balcony that overlooped the beach and lagoon. It was attached to the Lagoon Beach Hotel and you could dine in their resturants and use there facilities as well.

Sunstays is a Hotel and Apartment complex on the Atlantic coast approx 15 mins drive north of cape town. Location of Milnetown is nice on seafront, many new Florida style housing developments, a lagoon and a golf course. Town itself is a bit run down and most things close at night other than the inevitable fast food places (McD's , KFC etc). No nightlife that would apeal to toursits. Several convenient shopping mall type places within a 20 min drive so self catering not a problem. Would recomend this location to those looking for a family seaside holiday and a base from which to explore the cape town area. Most places in western cape are within a 2 hour drive on good (compared to UK ) roads. First apartment we had had noisy air con (cant switch it off) and we changed rooms without fuss. Hotel staff were friendly and attentive. Cleaning was to a high standard. Apartment section had building work (small scale snagging) going on in reception atrium and this was noisy on some days. It did not seem to go on beyond lunchtimebut dont count on a quiet lie in on week days. Beach was lovely. V sandy and clean inspite of the popularity with dog walkers.Great views of table mountain. Water v cold at end of March and wind in late afternoon made a sunset stroll a bit of a challenge. Would imagine it is great at the height of summer. All in all a great location, lovely views, clean, helpful staff and good value for money. Would stay here again.

The hotel was previously an apartment complex and it is now similar to our timeshare facilities. The hallways were loud and without opening the door to the balcony and windows to the hallway there was no breeze (and it is not air conditioned). The view from the balcony was awesome (sea side). The towels were dingy and placed on the towel racks with no style (folded in the middle and no attention to detail). There were no washcloths. The TV was very outdated and it took several trials and errors to get the TV to work. The curtains to the balcony were ripped and dirty. The tub had hairs in it. The blankets were nasty in appearance - very worn. The light in the kitchen did not work (probably only needed a bulb). The elevator doors had fingerprints all over them and looked as though they had not been cleaned in months. There was no water pressure if you took a shower after 7:00 AM. The manager took our complaints and the next day the room was very clean. I wrote on their critique sheet that this could be a nice place if they would pay attention to detail. Little things like cleaning the elevator doors and placing the towels on the racks neatly and not letting the entire staff hang out in the hotel office after duty hours. We were extremely disappointed but made the best of it as changing hotels at such a late date would have been too costly and possibly too hard to locate.

Location was good and we felt safe. Our room was very nice, however, the bedrooms were quite hot and stuffy as the units did not have either an airconditioner or fans. But,we must say, the staff were quite friendly and our housekeeping was very good. Yes, we'd stay here again. The beach is beautiful and though the unit was not a beach view, we did have a lagoon view which we very much enjoyed. Having a rental car is a must since it is not near any public transport.

We loved the hotel, very friendly staff and are very helpful. The rooms are extraordinarily large. When traveling, we usually rent a car, you will need one if you stay at this hotel.
