Crown Spa Hotel Scarborough by Compass Hospitality

This is a wonderful hotel with fantastic rooms, excellent spa and restaurant facilities and lovely staff. However, our room, 501 was far too hot. Fans were provided but this didnt fully resolve the problem and we had a very uncomfortable night's sleep and tried to minimise the time we spent in the room. We reported this to reception and disappointingly, a lack of care was shown and no effort was made to compensate this.

Great stay at hotel. Lovely room and reception was great. Easy check-in. Very polite and friendly. Use of spa facilities was brilliant. Loved our stay.

Room was more dated than imagined, there is a sigh to say who cleaned your room - the cups were dirty on the service tray I had a single room, the bed was big and comfy, the bath was huge and great to have ambient lighting It was red hot but there wasn’t any AC or a fan available The recieptionist who checked me if was exceptional (around 7pm on Saturday 9th August) Disappointed that the swimming pool etc closed early on a Saturday, the only night I stayed Thank-you

The pool was a great touch to our holiday, but the jacuzzi spa pool was too enclosed & had a really strong smell of chlorine which stung peoples eyes! The breakfast was expensive for what we got & a little cold, but we did go a little late!

Although a little dated the rooms were very spacious and well kept. The food was very good and internet access also good. Parking was awkward maybe due to the season. The Spa facilities were also very good.

The hotel is in a wonderful location and has wonderful views. It’s very clean and all the staff are very friendly and professional.

Facilities were very tired, room was very warm, carpet needs to be replaced. Pool hours are limited for children. Arrived at 6pm and was told children hours were over. Not family friendly.

This was easily one of the most disappointing hotel stays I’ve ever experienced — a far cry from the 4* experience advertised. The hotel is outdated and clearly hasn’t been renovated in years. The online photos are incredibly misleading, showing fresh, modern rooms that look nothing like what we were given. Our “superior” twin room looked tired and worn. It had food remnants by the bed, suggesting it hadn’t been properly cleaned, and it appeared someone had been sitting on the bed when we arrived. The room had been set up as a double despite us booking a twin — we had to request housekeeping to separate the beds after check-in. The bathroom was just as poor: the shower controls were literally hanging off the wall, exposing internal piping, which felt unsafe and unkempt. We also visited the on-site spa, which was advertised as a “serenity retreat.” In reality, it felt more like a dated community leisure centre. The pool was cold, the hot tub barely warm, the steam room wasn’t steaming, and the sauna didn’t reach a proper temperature. Treatments were disappointing too. Breakfast the next morning was frankly appalling. The hot food was rubbery & the “fresh” fruit clearly tinned. We were originally going to dine in the hotel the night before — thank goodness we didn’t. Even our taxi driver warned us not to eat there and confirmed the hotel has significantly declined since COVID. Definitely wouldn’t stay here again or recommend. It might have been #1 before but not now!

Very disappointed for the amount paid. Dated and tired rooms. No real toiletries, teatray skimpy, breakfast average at best. Would be reluctant to return.
