Garden Palace Hotel

Rooms need renovation - carpet stinks, furniture broken, plumbing is in terrible condition AND hotel is saving on supplies and towels ... terrible experience - I had asked to change my room, but replacement room was not better((

Situated in the old town the location is excellent and convenient to public transport to travel further afield. The hotel is grand in a old world sense, impeccably clean and tidy. The room I was in was cold (central heating was not even warm) and the curtain in the room was broken so could not be closed to keep the room warm and shut out the street lights, but this did not worry me. Breakfast was good and staff very helpful.

location is very good. bad amenities,no toothpaste, no kettle. remote wasn't working, many channels were out. upon cleaning bed wasnt even made. can hear people walk on the floor,talk, can get loud

great placr to stay. clean, friendly, great facilities, close to places, fabulous breakfast.

I chose the Garden Palace Hotel but they had an overbooking problem so moved me to the Royal Square Hotel (same management). The foyer there is a bit dark and minimalist but my room was fine with the small but important exception of the pillow which must have been designed for an animal with a quite different physique being about a foot thick.

This hotel is great, it's just on the edge of the old town rather than in the centre (2mins walk) which makes it quieter. There's also the bonus of there being a secluded and yes quiet courtyard where you can sit and relax and have a beer. My room was very good, the furniture was perhaps a little dated, old creaky wardrobe but the bed was solid/comfy and the bathroom modern and recently refurbished and had a hairdryer. The fridge in the room was useful. The buffet breakfast was ample, a choice of juices, eggs cooked in different ways as well as continental style meats and cheeses. Breakfast times are very civilised, 7-10 during the week and an hour later at the weekend. There's a supermarket next door if you fancy a nibble and also an Alko Markt where you can buy draft wine. The staff were kind and were happy to get me a taxit to the airport (15 euros), the journey took about 20mins at 8am. Check in time is 2pm so don't try and do it before then as they charge 10 euros. All in all a very good place to stay, I was on my own there and felt very safe as there was a guard on the gate to let me in. Highly recommended.

Toilet couldn't flush. The soap and shampoo provided was limited to ONE little sample, barely enough for a single bath. Come on, Garden Hotel, how cheap can you act?! There was no cleaning of the room, only the delivery of a new little sample of soap. Bed/matress must have been from the 1950's or so, it was completely worn out. The enterior of the hotel is stylish though - as long as you don't take a closer look. From a distance it looks fine... I'm sure it looks good on pictures....

Rooms were good, fairly basic but it had everything you needed. The shower holder was broken unfortunately, but it didn't bother us too much! Breakfast was great - eggs/pancakes/bacon/beans/cereals/pastries/fruit/bread etc. Lovely guys on the front gate, we felt very secure, however the area seemed very safe anyway! Amazing location, close to everything - restaurants/bars/clubs/historic buildings! I would definitely stay there again!

Perfect location and nice breakfast and that's all. Hotel is very tired with extremely terrible and damaged decor. Beds are very narrow and bathrooms mouldy. Floors are making noise and you can hear every neighbor noises. Also in room fridge makes terrible noise. Toiletries are 2 star hotel level .Hotel desperately need makeover as has a great potential . Maximum 2 stars.
