"Great location"

8.0

Location is perfect, House of the Blackheads is across the road and St Peter's Church is a short walk. It is a 5 minute walk from the bus station. Staff are friendly. We asked for a taxi to the airport and it arrived within 2 minutes. Breakfast was nice and there was plenty of options to choose from. Beds were extremely comfortable although the pillows were very small. The rooms were spacious. The only downside was the creaky floors, you could hear people moving about which disturbed our sleep.

"Was ok!"

The hotel is OK. Not really a 4 star, more a 3 star. Everything pretty average.

Carpet is worn, need to be replaced. Shower stall needs new caulking as you can see the molds at the bottom of shower encasement.

"Definitely not a 4-star hotel, but 3-star."

8.0

If you take that this is not a 4-star hotel as they advertise, then everything else will seem ok.

"Decent value"

6.0

This hotel is okay, for €70 per night for two including breakfast it represented good value imho. The breakfast buffet was fine, I'd skip the coffee but there's a Costa Coffee pretty close by. This hotel is right behind the house of Blackheads and is a block of the tourist run which makes it better as its close to everything but also very quiet. The 22 and 222 busses go to the airport and are about less than 5 minutes walk away. The rooms were very clean too

"Old Hotel inGood Location"

6.0

Stayed here in July with our 5 year old. The hotel is set inside a larger building that shares a courtyard with a restaurant/huka bar. The restaurant stays open late, which causes noise until 1-2 am. It wasn't a big deal for us, but it might be for someone else. Breakfast is ok. Old coffee machine needs updating, as the line for coffee/hot water gets long. Hot eggs and bacon, with a selection of vegetables and pastries were available. Juices also available. Pros: Excellent air conditioner. Staff willing to help, and they reassigned us a different room with three beds when we first arrived. Location is 80m from the House of Blackheads and the main square. Cons: The rooms are very quirky and outdated. It had a minibar, but lacked amenities such as drinking glasses and extra pillows. Also there is no hotel parking, you have to surrender your keys and they take your car for €20 per day. 3 stars for this hotel.

"Dark, depressing and disappointing"

4.0

One-night stay in room 310 - a small, dark and depressing room, barely wide enough for the side-by-side single beds that had been pushed together to make a 'double' - tired, old, dark-wood furniture, with storage limited to a single (coffin-width) wardrobe - two dark stains on the carpet near the bed - a few measly sachets of shampoo etc. in the en-suite bathroom - the window overlooked the inner courtyard, through which various early morning deliveries were noisily moved. The city centre location is excellent, but this is definitely NOT the best option to choose if room 310 is typical of the rest of this hotel. Superficially, there are some quirky features and interesting period-pieces of furniture in the corridors and lobbies, but these merely emphasised the poor quality of the room that we'd been allocated. Breakfast was OK and fairly well-stocked (we were first down at 7.00am after a poor night's sleep), and the coffee and bacon were welcome highlights. Staff on reception were polite and they did try to be helpful, but had we been planning a longer stay, we would have tried to change hotel after seeing this poor quality room.
