Grand Hotel Hermitage & Villa Romita

Extremely friendly staff. Manager of hotel is 10 star guy! Gorgeous views and the hotel is run with true professional service. Shuttles all day long down to local retail shops. The great reviews and fair price is why I selected them. Pool was great! You will not be disappointed!

The staff/ owners and family were exceptionally helpful and always friendly. They were also very knowledgeable and gave great advice on tours and other local information.

It was a fair drive to Sorrento city center but we were aware of this and didn't mind the ride down on the free shuttle bus or the public bus. The shuttle bus doesn't run until too late (last bus from town up is at 8.30pm). It would be great if the bus ran until a bit later, even say 10pm.

Nice hotel

5 star holiday from start to finish. Stunning balcony views, clean rooms, very comfy bed. Staff are very friendly and can't do enough to help. Half board, wow, wasn't expecting that ! Great choice, generous portions, presentation was outstanding, cooked fresh. 4 choices for each course. The best food I have ever had in Italy. 5/5 Regular shuttle service to Sorrento offered by hotel. Had even allowed breakfast for a coffee & croissant etc to allow for very early pick up. We stayed for a week at the lovely Grand Hotel Hermitage up in the hills where it is nice and peaceful, away from the hustle and bustle and craziness of Sorrento main town. Big bonus is the courtesy bus which runs between 9am and 8.30pm and takes roughly 15 minutes to drive into Sorrento (you wouldnt be able to walk it). The hotel is spotlessly clean, room was cleaned and towels changed daily. We found the staff to be very welcoming, friendly and helpful. Breakfast is buffet style, cereals, toast, pastries jams etc, fresh fruit. There is some hot food too, scrambled eggs, bacon and what look like mini frankfurters but I wasnt keen on those. We only ate dinner once in the hotel restaurant which was good, we preferred to go into Sant'Agata which is only a short walk and has some lovely little bars and restaurants. I recommend Racy Bar which do really good cocktails. We enjoyed Ristorante da Mimi for food (and a free shot of Limoncello after your meal) and Tutt'appost Enoteca Wine bar (get a table at the back of the restaurant as it's nicely deorated and a bit quieter) If you want a room with a great view, I suggest the 5th floor. We had room 503 overlooking the pool and out to sea with Mount Vesuvius in the distance. Beautiful all lit up at night. Some other info you might find useful: There is only one lift in the hotel, we never had to wait long for it though. Kettle and 2 mugs in room but the tea and coffee isn't replaced once used, it's really just a welcome pack so you might want to bring some with you. They do have an iron and ironing board you can use, it's on the same floor as reception at the end of the corridor. It's not the best but does the job. There isn't anywhere to hang your clothing when using the iron. A little hook on the wall would be great. There is a private path from the hotel which takes you into Sant'Agata. The Hotel staff can arrange trips for you, these are shared trips to Pompei, Capri, Positano, Amalfi etc. Be careful on the roads if you plan on hiring a car or scooter as they drive like crazy, and if you have young kids, hold their hands tightly. Use the zebra crossings, some wil stop for you, some wont. We really enjoyed our time in Sorrento and at Grand Hotel Hermitage. Hope you will too.

We stayed on the top floor (5th) with a Seaview. Highly recommended to pay the extra for this as the views are spectacular. The hotel is some way out from the resort centre but the hotel provides a courtesy bus which runs hourly and the journey time is approximately 20 minutes. We were on a half board basis - breakfast and evening meal and the food at the evening meal in particular surpassed our expectations. The hotel is extremely well run and spacious and is immaculately clean. All the staff are very helpful and friendly. The only slight let down for us was the lack of any atmosphere in the bar area of an evening. Few people ever went when we were there and only one night with a live act

We had the best stay at Villa Romita(Grand hotel Hermitage). We got a suite(room 610) at the villa with the best view of Sorrento! So friendly and helpful staff that always made sure that we had everything we needed and provided the best service at all times. The free shuttle bus to the town was also very convenient! Would recommend staying at this hotel for your Sorrento visit:)

We had a great stay in the Villa Romita portion of the hotel. I enjoyed walking the path lined with rosemary, lavender and olive trees down to the hotel. The staff were incredibly friendly and greeted us by name as we entered the hotel. Anytime we needed assistance they were able to help us and did so with a smile. The breakfast had a wide selection of options which met both mine and my husband’s needs. We definitely utilized the free shuttle bus into Sorrento which was easy to locate and schedule with the front desk. The view from the pool was incredible; the pool itself was nice and refreshing. Our room was cool after hours in the hot sun and it was always clean. We were able to enjoy a late afternoon drink on our balcony overlooking Sorrento, normally with a nice breeze. We liked the quietness of the location but enjoyed the proximity to Sorrento and its port. We would definitely stay here again.

The staff were awesome. The shuttle was great. The village walking distact was great.
