The Ira Allen House

Hands down my favorite B&B. Beautiful place & friendly hosts. Able to meet dietary needs. Food was delicious! Very comfortable and clean.

Best experience we’ve ever had at a hotel. Mike is exceptional on all fronts! His breakfasts is OUT OF THIS WORLD! We still talk about it. The room were incredible and his property is to die for!! I would recommend this to everyone!! We had children and a baby, and he had colouring books, toys, highchair and was so incredibly child friendly and welcoming!! 10 out of 10.

This was the best experience I’ve ever had at any Hotel. It was our first bed and breakfast and it was spectacular! So clean, quaint, friendly, kid friendly, beautiful and historical. 1779!! Mike the owner is beyond exceptional and goes above and beyond for everything. He’s an exceptional host and chef. It feels like you have been transported back in time. I could not recomend this place more. I would give it 10/5 if I could!!

Great breakfast and hosts.

Michael and Kevin provided a wonderful stay for our family. We stayed in the Ira Allen Suite which was great for a family of four with an exterior sitting around which gave us room to spread out. Kevin’s homemade breakfast, included with your stay, was made with local farm eggs, yogurt and other items that were obtained locally. The b&b is a quick drive into Manchester. The property is river front to the famed Battenkill River. There is a great little hike across the street in a preserve that is the result of local conservation efforts to protect the riparian zone of the Battenkill that was at one time overrun by cows from a nearby farm. So nice to bear witness to streamside conservation efforts being seen through! Go and stay, you will not be disappointed and will sense the great pride in Michael and Kevin’s labor.

We had amazing time

Wow! What a treat— to stay in the exact same place as where Fanny Allen was born, and the Ethan/Ira Allen family took respite, does it get any better? Mike was great, very cordial and made up a delicious homemade Vermont breakfast. What a guy!

A beautifully quaint bed & breakfast! The staff were wonderfully attentive in serving homemade breakfast with ingredients sourced from local farms. Very little street noise made for a quiet stay.

A pleasant B and B stay in the famous Allen family house. The house is well appointed with period pieces and is exactly what you would imagine a VT B and B to be. The breakfast was great, our room was very comfy and we had a good night's sleep.

We had a wonderful time at the Ira Allen house. We felt like in a time capsule. Mike and Kevin put so much thought in decorating each corner of the house and creating a wonderful atmosphere. Rooms were very clean. Breakfast was amazing every morning.
