The Westin Ka'anapali Ocean Resort Villas

We had a wonderful stay at the Westin KOR! It was so comfortable especially the beds! The pools were so fun and our kids had a blast. We loved the beach, the boardwalk and the parking too it was so easy to get to our villa. There was a tsunami warning while we were there which took up one day of vacation, we didnt get a text to evacuate

Absolutely Traumatizing – A Complete Failure of Safety and Communication I’ve stayed at many resorts around the world, but I’ve never experienced anything as horrifying—or as poorly handled—as my recent stay at the Westin Villas in Kaanapali. What began as a relaxing day by the pool quickly turned into a nightmare. A massive brush fire broke out right next to the hotel, and I was completely alone, trapped inside the building with no power and smoke pouring in. Guests were running in every direction, panicked and terrified. And where was Westin in all of this? Completely silent. There was no warning, no evacuation notice, no assistance—just chaos. My throat filled with smoke as I desperately tried to figure out what was happening. I was one of hundreds of guests left in the dark—literally and figuratively—while staff and management utterly failed to communicate or take control of a dangerous situation. Meanwhile, my family saw the fire from a snorkeling boat and rushed off to drive to the hotel and rescue me just minutes before the roads were closed. We fled to the other side of the island in pure shock, checking into a new hotel in Wailea with almost all our belongings still trapped in our Westin room. I cannot overstate the negligence and disregard for guest safety shown here. A luxury resort should have protocols, staff training, and communication systems in place for emergencies like this. Westin failed on every single level. Shame on the Westin Villas Kaanapali and Marriott for putting their guests in danger and handling a terrifying emergency with such incompetence. I will never stay here again, and I urge others to think twice before trusting this property with their safety. You would think the devastating Lahina fire would have taught them something about having a protocol for these types of emergencies, apparently not. I even spoke to employees that were crying bc they were so upset about how this was handled.

Beautiful resort amazing location. Swam with so many fish and sea turtles. Very windy, straws and napkins and cups end up all over the property and adjacent beach. I picked up about 20-30 straws myself, and numerous cups and napkins, after watching them blow into the ocean, koi pond, and get carried away by birds and other animals. This resort is slowly destroying the beautiful area and nature people are trying to enjoy. -need to not routinely give out straws (by law they are supposed to ask but do not) -staff need to more actively pick up trash so it does not blow towards and into beach (ie, remove empty cups at beach chairs) - give less napkins at a time to guests so entire stacks not blowing away with wind gusts -need to provide container for properly disposing of all the compostable cups and utensils they give out since plastic banned. If it all just ends up in ocean, trash, or recycling, it might as well be plastic as it will still cause pollution and harm if not disposed of properly: Could partner with one of the many composting orgs for this

This is a very busy family style resort so if you are not into lots of kids and activity all over the place, then it probably is not the best for you. The property is well-maintained, the barbecues are excellent and cleaned daily. The location is second to none. The gyms are average but can get very busy if you have more than just a few people in them. The staff was friendly. Food was good and overall a good quality stay. We had the one bedroom which was perfect for four of us and having a full kitchen washer/dryer is also a plus. I noted some reviews complaining about a long check in wait time and I can certainly see how that would occur. Ours was about 15 minutes before we were able to speak to a host. Although the pool can get a bit active for us, I certainly would return to this facility as it makes vacationing easy given the amenities and location.

Nice place clean rooms not very updated but it works for a trip to Maui. The issue is there’s absolutely no secure in the Pools people putting towels down at 6 AM and not returning for hours and hours nearly impossible to find a place to sit around the pool after 9 AM. One area has 22 chairs with towels, and four people Some people smoking weed here in there and vape pipes

Let me start with the positives: The resort is clean and sits on a beautiful ocean. It’s Maui! The room is comfortable and the Westin Heavenly bed is always a great sleep! Sadly, that’s about all I can say. When we arrived at this “high end” resort, we were not greeted at all. I had to go up to the valet desk and ask what we should do. We were the only car arriving, so this wasn’t a matter of being busy. There was no offer for help with luggage. They just took our keys and pointed us inside. We made our way to check-in. The check-in process took almost 30min. Once again, not line, just slow. We came on a marketing package that required a sales presentation. We did receive a discounted room rate, but we were also promised 15k Marriott Bonvoy points as part of our stay. When we checked in for our presentation I asked about receiving and using our points. They told me they would need to “look into that” and come back after our presentation. The presentation was painless, and I give them credit for not being pushy. We decided that this was not the place for us based on the way things had gone so far in our stay. After finishing our presentation I went back to then be told our account did not receive the Bonvoy points gift. This of course was unbelievably frustrating and demonstrates a complete lack of customer care. We were blatantly lied too. Finally, you should be aware that you will be nickel and dimed for everything here. We paid for the highest level couples massage on the menu. Over $500. And we were offered water. No wine, beer, or others. I realize it’s Maui, but again, we’ve stayed in equally high end places and have never experienced anything like this. It’s been a really disappointing 25th Anniversary trip. We came expecting an amazing week and will leave pretty frustrated.

Too many pools that kids are allowed in. The adult pool at the Westin next door was small and people walked through the area constantly no privacy no music no bar Everything closed too early !!!

My husband, teen daughter, and I stayed a week at the resort and had a wonderful time. We had no issues while there and found the staff friendly, the food tasty, and our room cleaned regularly. We got professional photos taken on the property that came out great and we snorkeled off the beach of the property, viewing some truly incredible sights (e.g., fish, coral, sea urchins). The only negative I would say is that the spa was a bit pricey, and I felt a bit coerced to upgrade one of my services which turned out to not be worth the price. But that's the only negative thing. It was a nice stay overall, and we thoroughly enjoyed it!
