My family and I stayed at Alexandra Resort in Turks and Caicos in the beginning of January. We traveled from California, and arrived on a Sunday. Alexandra Resort is only about a 15 minute drive from the airport, and you can pay for shuttle service upon arrival ($15 USD per person).
When arriving to Alexandra Resort, you instantly feel relaxed, comfortable and a boutique style vibe which we LOVED. The resort sits directly on Grace Bay, so you get the pristine white sand, and clear-turquoise water that it's famous for. The resort is relatively small so AT MOST a 5-minute walk to the beach. Our room was a bit closer, so it was around 2-3 minutes. During our trip, 2 out of the 6 days had spotty clouds and showers (only 10 minutes at a time MAXIMUM), which we heard was VERY rare for January. Although there were showers, as soon as the few clouds would pass, the sun would come right back out and the temperature was perfect.
In terms of the room itself, it was recently renovated and had a pool view. The room's vibe was a good mix of modern and beachy. We had 4 people in one room (king sized bed and queen pull-out couch) and it still felt very spacious. It featured one full room, 1.5 bathrooms, full kitchen and patio on the ground level. One of the few complaints we had was the very hard mattress on the king bed. We didn't notice it much for the first 2 nights but then it became really apparent how uncomfortable it really was. Another small complaint we had was the lack of outlets to charge devices. We each had a phone, we had a speaker, and a portable charger, so we would take turns in order to charge everything. But overall the room was very pleasant.
Food at all-inclusive resorts is a popular topic, as they are notorious for being not very good. The food at Alexandra Resort was overall a solid 8/10. The breakfast buffet was our FAVORITE place we ate and begins around 7 am. Definitely a 10/10. If you have the chance, TRY THE OMELETTE! The buffet features Caribbean staples, American favorites, along with other options as well! Shout out to Early, the sweetest hostess at the buffet! She took the time to learn our names and greeted us or came up to chat every morning. Angela makes the best lattes at the coffee bar inside the buffet! And Marjorie was very personable and made us feel welcome! Good sushi at Fish Deck, and the fish tacos at the truck stop are SO GOOD! We totally enjoyed the lunch trays that you can get near the beach, they had really good Caribbean-style chicken, fish, mac and cheese, and corn! Black Rock Grill is definitely worth checking out, and was the perfect "last night meal." Make your reservation ahead of time! We also took the 15 minute shuttle to the sister resort, Blue Haven. We made a reservation at Fire and Ice, which we thought was just okay. Although, the espresso martinis from the nearby bar were pretty good.
On that note, there were no complaints about the drinks, they were great! We loved meeting Farrar who was the beach bartender during our stay, super funny and very welcoming. Get the mojito and the piña colada with a shot of rum for sure! Chairs on the beach fill up fast, especially the front row, so we recommend going pretty early. we did want to try the pool, but the water was pretty chilly. The beach on its own was stunning! (See photo below) After it had rained it was pretty windy, so the water was slightly choppy one of the days.
There was daily entertainment, karaoke, trivia, a foam party etc. Although there is entertainment, the resort is still very relaxing it isn't much of a "party resort." The spa was super relaxing! I enjoyed my facial, and my family thought the massages were good.
Overall, we LOVED our stay at Alexandra, we want to come back soon! If your looking for a stunning, relaxing all-inclusive with a boutique feel in Turks and Caicos, Alexandra is it!
