This hotel was one of the best we’ve stayed in… the staff really to above and beyond to make your stay as enjoyable as possible nothing was too much.. shout out to Ali and excellent massage by Erica, breakfast was also very good and the spa and pool were really nice to spend an evening relaxing.. we will defo be back

Room was clean and tidy, sofa bed was made up ready.

The property was nice but was very small for a family. It was also directly opposite a terrace where an event was taking place so it wasn’t easy getting the children to sleep.

It was obvious that not a single staff member enjoyed working there (except for the breakfast manager) - they were either stressed or annoyed. While guest parking is included, there was none available for us as they had a big event on. We were forced to park in a disabled spot, much to the annoyance of reception. Spa facilities aren't included in the price, even though someone from the hotel stated that they were in the FAQs. Price wasn't warranted, as the spa facilities were underwhelming, forgotten, and felt a bit eerie and dark. No mood lighting, calming music or nice places to relax. Our door battery died, which was handled terribly. When flagged with reception, an annoyed staff member opened our door with a key and said she won't fix it until the next day, so we'd have to go to reception every time we wanted to enter the room. I asked if they could please just fix the door after which she responded that they would need to be in the room. (The right way to handle this would be to apologise for the inconvenience, send the guest down for a complimentary drink at the bar and then fix the door right away). We told them we'd tell them when we leave, however at one point a staff member just walked into the room while we were just out of the shower, which was a bit odd. The Aperol Spritz was the most expensive cocktail on the menu at £16.75, which is absolute madness. The bartender, probably one of the most miserable employees in the hotel, made our cocktails, exchanged 1-2 words with us and made everyone ordering a drink feel like an inconvenience. The room was very hot and stuffy, the fan didn't work properly, the water coolers in the hotel were always empty, and there were no plug sockets next to the bed. A lot of this can be fixed by hiring better staff and treating them well. We won't be back and we won't be recommending this hotel.

Hotel lovely

Having a family anniversary party of 19 which included 5 children so booked dinner for 6.30 and food not served until nearly eight of of my grandchildren only 3 and another who is 7 got her meal last after everybody that is so bad did complain and they gave me 20 of bill which including roome we had 6 cost me over £2500 not happy

Location

It needs a huge modernisation - the bedrooms and spa are ancient. Service was poor due to being understaffed. Breakfast is poor - old fashioned facilities, limited choice and poor service.

No spa treatments available. Too hot to sleep

The treatment area was very relaxing, with nice touches such as drinks, couch to relax. The atmosphere was peaceful. Ginny was very helpful advising correct style of treatment and products used. Her massage style was excellent and really worked my painful areas. 2 days later it's feeling much better.

We have stayed here numerous times over the years but hadn't had chance to return since the refurbishment. Upon arrival we were warmly greeted by Ian who had kindly upgraded our room and gave a brief ex0lanation of the changes since our last visit. This was a tremendous help. We made our way to the room on the 2nd floor (nice and quiet,as requested) with a view over the courtyard. We settled in for the evening and had a couple of drinks. The bed was incredibly comfortable and the room was spacious, clean and beautifully decorated. The following morning we went down to breakfast and was greeted by Ian again, who was so cheery, helpful and attentive. I have to say he really does show a genuine care for every guest, and is so helpful, nothing is ever too much! We explored the beautiful grounds (I noticed that the tennis courts had been updated and looked new and clean), afterwards I went to the pool. That evening w had a couple of drinks at the bar and some bar food, all very reasonably priced and the food was very good. The following morning, after another very comfortable and restful sleep, we were yet again met by the wonderful Ian who was exactly the same cheery and helpful self. The other two gentlemen who were on reception were equally helpful and welcoming, apologies but I have forgotten their names. I cannot recommend this beautiful hotel highly enough. There was a wedding on there on the first night but didn't disturb us at all. On the second day there was another event but the staff had obviously planned it very well as to not affect the other guests. Overall this hotel is beautiful, inside and out, the staff only add to the experience with their exceptional customer service, and care. I wpuld not hesitate to recommend this hotel for short one night escapes, weekend stays, weddings and other functions...the staff really are a real credit and reflect the beauty of the hotel.
