Heritage Grange at Thurston, Hotel

I stayed in a log cabin, it was lovely, clean and a lot larger that I thought it may be. The dinner as well as the breakfast was fit for a king. Large, tasty, well cooked and very nicely presented.

I could not get the room door to lock. Only because I had never locked one like this before. Once shown how to do it by a very nice staff member, it was no longer a problem.

Quiet location

Hotel in disperate need of repair and renovation. Bathroom was freezing cold, the toilet didn’t flush properly, the bathtub leaked. Overall hotel is kept clean, but needs updating.

We recently booked for a Christmas party, twice we phoned with queries and both times the staff were quite rude on the phone, insisting they were too busy to answer a couple of simple questions. With meal nearly £80 I think they could have been a little less dismissive. When we go to the actual night, it was a complete flop. The food was standard and the entertainment was just as dire. There was absolutely no atmosphere, the staff again were quite rude. Felt like we were just shoved in a back room with all the tables crammed together. I would not recommend going here for a party perhaps the hotel side of it is better if you want to have a stay there.
