The Mill Hotel Sudbury

The property is in a beautiful location. The lady in reception was very helpful and really very friendly

The were no towels in one of the rooms and the shower did. It function properly in the other. The kettle poured water out of the bottom over the floor and the electric base which would have been a problem if it were switched on. When iI went to ask for take out tea the staff in the restaurant were not at all Helpful and watched me struggle to hold the paper cups not offering lids or approach me to help me at all. The lovely receptionist noticed and got two lids immediately. The noise levels from other guests in the annexe was out of control as the noise of the doors slamming was so loud as they don’t have slow release closures so if you’re returning late and not aware any other guests would be woken up immediately

We had a wedding in the area so the location was convenient for where we needed to be. The room was clean and pretty location by the lake. We didn’t spend much time in the area.

Our room was ready to check in early and yet they still charge £10/hour for every hour before 4pm official check in. The hotel car park… no one tells you on check in at the front desk that you need to pay for the car park , there is also no visible or obvious signage to indicate payment is needed. So on top of paying the room fee + early check in fee + parking fine, considering you are in a small country hotel, it was expensive. Would not stay here again. The room was very small & basic for the price.

The staff were great. The location is beautiful. My room was nice and very spacious. The breakfast had a good choice.

There's no lift! And I couldn't see that anywhere when I was booking. Luckily for me I emailed to tell them I can't do stairs and requested a ground floor room, which was very nice. Sadly, though, that meant I was in the carpark, which was a bit noisy and the outside door to room 502 needs a spring on it, because it slams when people leave it. There also needs to be more vegetarian choices on the menu.

Not having any electric or USB sockets near the bed There is a shower suction mat , but no hand rail inside the shower Breakfast was very nice just missing fried eggs

The receptionist was friendly, helpful and extremely professional 10/10

The Hash Browns at breakfast were soggy. 7/10

The variety of the food served at breakfast was good. Staff were pleasant and helpful. Good space in the restaurant for seating.

The rooms were quite small and crammed, so were the corridors - it felt like the owners were trying to fit in as many rooms as possible into the buildings. Our carpark was tricky to get into and tricky to park without feeling we might hit or scratch another car.

The hotel is located a short walk from the railway station by a water meadows with lots of wild life and excellent walks. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was excellent

Our room was very small, stuffy and at the top of a very steep staircase. The evening meal was not brilliant more like cheap pub food.

Location was great relative to the venue we were using for a wedding reception

Breakfast was chaotic. I paid £15 for breakfast and arrived at 9.15am. There were no pastries, bowls for cereal and the coffee has run out. I had to point all of this out to a member of staff
