"I’ll definitely be back!"

10.0

The staff was great, when I first checked in I was given a room with a parking lot view. I was only visiting for 2 days and the staff was able to move me to a view the ocean and the golf course. So much better!!!

Only 1 restaurant in the property, not many gluten free options.

"Lovely Villas"

10.0

Had a lovely time. Kauai is so laid back. The Westin Ocean Villas were so nice. The area around the pool was kept clean even with the roosters and hens. Easy to get chaise lounges by the pool although there are always some people that get up early and place a towel to “save” their seat and don’t come out for hours. Grocery store was close. We stopped at Costco, as well. Had a nice time.

"Disappointing stay, even with lowered expectations"

4.0

We only had about three days/four nights in Kauai so we made a calculus - we opted instead of the very fancy hotel to instead a fairly decent one since our stay was short and we would be out adventuring for most of our time there. Even with that lowered expectation, The Westin in Princeville failed to meet that standard. The property is in a more resort-built up area of the island, which we probably should have known in advance. So while it is on the coast with a lovely view of the ocean, it is surrounded by time shares and the like. When we arrived, we were given a soft pitch by the very kind concierge to return for an optional longer pitch in which we would get some gift certificates. This is probably an indication of where the priorities are for this property (we did not attend the longer pitch). When directed to our room, we were told - there will be parking near your building and luggage carts. Not once when we were there were we able to find parking anywhere close to our unit and there were, of course, no luggage carts - which was not at all convenient traveling as the lone adult that day with two small children and several bags. This was, mind you, a Tuesday afternoon in February when we checked in. The rooms are subpar with a very very small kitchenette, but I can say the positive is that we had a washer and dryer in the unit - which I admit was very helpful. The food in the restaurant was average. All of these issues are minor annoyances that I could've handled, but the big one was this - they had a green policy in which they would've come one day to clean. Okay, fine - we understand that's what some hotels are doing. If that's the case, then, you count on the hotel to live up to its word that they'll clean on the ONE DAY they say they will. The Westin did not. We were gone for 15 hours that day and we returned to a room in the same condition we left it with no clean towels on our final night in the room. They did, however, not fail to forget to hang on our door an invitation to pay for a discounted stay if we joined their vacation club. This was the cherry on top. Sometimes its good to know where not to stay, and for us we will not return to The Westin in Princeville on our next trip to Kauai. Not worth the price or the pitches.

"Westin Princeville cursed as a Marriott Vacation Club"

6.0

Service was lovely but the place has fallen into the Marriott Vacation Club (MVC) and really gone downhill. This is our 3rd or 4th time visiting and I don’t think we will be coming back. PROS: + Great customer service, everyone from housekeeping to concierge services is lovely CONS: - Amenities and grounds do not match the standards of a Westin villa. We own a timeshare at the Westin Nanea in Maui and the experiences are vastly different - Rooms and overall buildings need a major glow up, which I believe are coming late 2026 - Having only 1 restaurant with limited menu and service (breakfast only on Sundays, no poolside dining) is a major downside IMHO I had a soft spot for this Westin as I had my baby moon there but I no longer think it’s worth the money or timeshare points. Hoping the remodel helps things a bit in the future.

"Beware of the Nenne"

4.0

This resort has great staff, the restaurant has excellent meals. It’s a beautiful island with lush, green forests and waterfalls. The reason we gave it a lower review than others is because of the influx of the prolific amount of Nenne Hawaiian goose ( a cousin to the Canada goose) walking around. These birds have free reign over the resort and are allowed to swim in the various pools, defecate all over the property and are strictly protected ( you are not allowed to even shoo them away). Due to the above we would not swim in the pools due to the concern about bird fecal contamination. We probably wouldn’t return.

This is a wonderful place to go to for vacation - it is quiet, has beautiful grounds and rooms and the staff were all helpful and friendly. We will be there again next January!

"Westin is not the same"

6.0

As a titanium lifetime member was appalled by the treatment of the Westin. No early check-in or late checkout. Also an upgrade was ignored and was given a room looking at the parking lot. The resort was ok and the restaurant was average .

"Good, but not great"

8.0

This was our second time staying at this resort. The staff is professional. The resort has a relaxing vibe. The grounds are nicely maintained, our room was very clean, and bed comfortable. Two reasons for 4 instead of 5 stars: guest room was a bit dated and lobby had a bunch of promotional banners and signs. The tacky marketing signage in the lobby detracts from the peaceful tranquility of this resort. Overall it was a good stay.

"Poor value"

4.0

Service was not great - no offer to help with bags when we came. The room was okay, but not ideal. Gym was not good, and restaurant not that good either. But the worst part was we found cockroaches in the bathroom and close to the kitchenette multiple nights in a row. For what we paid per night for this room, the experience was very poor and not a good value at all. Would not stay here again.

"Bad customer service"

4.0

This was our third time staying at this resort. Fast forward to our last day of vacation and the day of our time share spiel… And my entire family has the flu. We call them and offer to do the time share spiel via video chat so that we don’t get their staff sick. They weren’t open to that. They said the only way we could “get out of it” was to get a doctor’s note. We weren’t trying to get out of anything, or being dishonest, we even offered to do it virtually. So my husband spent two hours at the clinic to get a doctor’s note and a positive flu test. My entire family, including my small children, are sick, and all the Westin cares about is their bottom line. I’m frustrated because we offered a reasonable solution to the problem and they weren’t open to it. I completely understand that we agreed to the time share talk and therefore got a discount on our trip. That is why we offered to do it online to protect their staff. They also took away the $300 gift card that they gave us, which felt petty. Talked to some locals and I guess this hotel is known for their pushy sales pitch and bad customer service. We won’t be coming here again, and certainly won’t be investing in their time share.
