"Exceptional"

Parking spaces limited ,and suits small cars best . But does not take away from this fabulous place with its great small harbour atmosphere seen out the dining room windows and also many of the rooms ,and the wonderful food .Staff efficient, courteous and pleasant. We had our honeymoon there 48 yrs go and continue to return for the ambience . Good interpretation of current COVID guidelines by staff and customers

"Generally good "

Generally very good (the food was excellent, except for one rather greasy breakfast), and the staff were brilliant. However I don’t think it deserves a 5* rating.

"An honest one!"

8.0

Great location. Comfy bed. Over priced but assume that is because of COVID. Breakfast poor quality…a few tweaks would improve it massively.

"the lovely Lugger"

8.0

Beautiful location very peaceful and quiet. The receptionist was very good in giving us great suggestions for days out and local trips. Breakfast has to be rebooked and you have to sit at set times due to shortage of staff also make sure you book if you wish to eat in the hotel or book the ship which is the only pub in the village. We hadn't been advised to do this and ended up having crisps for our first evening meal as didn't fancy the drive through the single lane road at night. Have suggested the hotel could have pre-warned us and given us the opportunity to book in advance. On the whole a thoroughly enjoyable stay in a beautiful location.

"Perfect coastal bolthole! "

10.0

For so long I have had The Lugger on my wish list and so came to stay as a treat for my boyfriends birthday. So often when you picture the perfect little bolthole by the sea it doesn't quite live up to expectation but this place blew it out of the water. It is everything I had hoped for and more. The location is outstanding, the bedroom gave us probably the best views of any hotel we have stayed in and the small and friendly feel of the hotel is hard to beat. We came with our baby and were also very well looked after with a little one I tow. We absolutely loved this place and will definitely be back!

"Lovely stay "

8.0

Fantastic location with some great nearby walks. Very helpful, polite and friendly staff, including manager, waiting/bar staff and housekeeping staff. Great breakfast. We didn’t eat lunch/dinner as they were fully booked in the evening. I would recommend booking dinner in advance, I presumed being residents we would automatically be able to eat there. I didn’t see the standard rooms but recommend the deluxe room with a terrace. It was a real sun trap and lovely to sit outside in the evening with a gin and tonic! The room was spacious, clean and bright with good provision of tea/coffee/toiletries and a mini fridge. I was disappointed with the bathroom however it was worn and tired and in need of an update to match the standard of the room. Despite this I would return as the location was stunning and the staff attentive and helpful, I wanted to thank Josie ( I think that was her name?) who went out of her way to help us with parking…. Thanks for your time and help!!

"Incredible food, location and service."

10.0

Incredible food and impeccable service. Beautiful location but make sure you book a room with a view / terrace if you want to spend time in your room and enjoy a lovely outlook. We couldn’t fault the service or restaurant experience - all the staff were very friendly, attentive and willing to help with any requests. The walks from the hotel are stunning but not for the faint-hearted - be prepared for steep inclines but well worth the effort. We will definitely be back!
