The Riverside House Hotel

Fiendly staff food was good.

Place looking tired. Lots of dust on dato rails. Bedding has seen its days. Carpets could do with a clean .floir in bathroom had debri of bits in corners. Could not open windiws to get rid of condensation. Black mould on on window frames. Not natural light could come from windows as blinds were broken and you could not roll them up.

There for Christmas luncheon only, with a group of 20. Given a separate room - there was another very large party in the main restaurant. Food was excellent and staff very attentive and helpful. Our only (meant constructively) feedback is that on a fine afternoon in December, the low sun streams directly into the eyes of diners facing the garden. Hate to shut out the lovely sun, but could we suggest some kind of blinds that could be partially closed for the short time the sun is directly shining in. It was a brilliant event, once the blinding sun had gone.

Top class staff very friendly and great food

I ended up spending 3 days at the Riverside House Hotel after our reservations at another area hotel were cancelled the day of my arrival. The Riverside House staff were incredibly helpful and accommodating of our group of 5. I am so grateful for their hospitality. They turned a terrible situation into one of my most pleasant business trips ever. I hope to have the opportunity to stay here again in the future. The bed was comfy and the room clean. It is in a walkable location although we ended up relaxing at the bar most nights and enjoyed a fantastic meal in the restaurant. I highly recommend doing both. I wish I had more time and better weather so I could explore the property more. If you are looking for a historic hotel with a lot of charm and wonderful staff, this is your place.

Breakfast was very, very good. Pleasant staff and very accommodating to our requests.

Mini-split A/C system was O.K., but we would have liked it a bit cooler in our room. The system was unable to cool to the desired nighttime temperature, but it was adequate. Our friend's room across the hall was able to cool much more than ours.

The tables in the garden were very welcome in August. The staff were very friendly and the room was excellent.

The parking is tight and there is not much lighting in the overflow car park at night.
