"Lovely holiday"

10.0

Lovely holiday at Dimitra Beach, rooms are clean, comfortable beds. Hotel grounds are kept lovely. Always greeted cheerfully every morning and evening by Colina! The food is lovely and different most days. There are lots of steps and the resort is quite spread out, 3 pool areas. Sun-beds are reserved quite early. Entertainment is different each night but again, unless you’re seated early you won’t get a spot outside.

"A beautiful 5 star hotel with a luxury feel."

10.0

A beautiful hotel with a model touch. Everywhere you look is a photo opportunity. The staff are extremely friendly and great with the kids. The food is brilliant for kids so many options my children were 8&7 and they enjoyed the food. So many pool options kids pools adult pools. Kids club on the far left of the hotel where the kids are entertained while you look out at the views while sunbathing or swimming. The entertainment at night is fab we sat near the back so the kids could dance and play. There’s sofas and tables inside so you can still hear the entertainment but relax and read or play games. We are extremely happy and are currently looking for next year and we have only just landed back.

"Lovely stay and fantastic staff."

10.0

Just had a really great stay at Dimitra Beach. All the staff were fantastic, friendly, smiling and helpful. George appears to be the catering manager for all the bars and restaurants and is a real character, never seems to have a day off and even turns up for the entertainment, which was pretty good, though usually didn't bear any relation to the poster advertising the evening's attraction. The room was clean and spacious, with a small terrace which wasn't really overlooked. There are quite a lot of steps and the beach is very stony, but they have placed sandbags at regular intervals along the water's edge, to help you get in and out more easily. Although the hotel rules do say that you must not leave towels in the morning to reserve sunbeds, and any placed before 9 a.m. will be removed, that doesn't happen and people still do it, so it can be a challenge to find a sunbed at times. The pools are clean and don't seem to get busy, so you can always get a swim, if not a sunbed. The food was good and there was a fair amount of choice, and I find it hard to believe that a previous reviewer found it so poor that they had to get taxis into Kos town every night to eat. The quality of the drinks was acceptable. I think if you want constant a la carte meals and premium drinks, you need to pay Ikos prices. The staff at the main veranda bar were great. Joy, Adina, Don, Mark and Jeff ( and a few others who I didn't get their names ) work amazingly hard when it gets busy in the evenings for the entertainment, never still for a moment but they always have time for a pleasant word and a smile. ( special mention to Don, who saved a couple of sandwiches for us because we were leaving for the airport just before the restaurants opened for the evening. Thanks Don ) The buses to and from Kos town run every day of the week ( a timetable is on the counter in reception ) and can get very crowded, but you can usually get a seat when you get on at the hotel stop. All in all, a very pleasant stay and the staff make it truly memorable.

"FANTASTIC HOTEL!"

10.0

Beautiful hotel with stunning views across to Turkey, just 45 minutes from the airport and 15-20 minutes from Kos Town on the bus for €2, with the bus stop just outside the hotel. Despite arriving at 1:30am, we were warmly welcomed by George with a fresh roll and Prosecco, and our bags were taken straight to the room. Staff were exceptional—always friendly and eager to help. A thoughtful touch was a daily poolside check-in to see if we needed anything in our room. The hotel was spotless, and housekeeping did a fantastic job each day, always greeting us with a smile. Food was excellent, with a wide breakfast selection and varied themed dinners. The Italian restaurant was a highlight (book in advance), offering a great three-course menu, while the Greek lunch spot was perfect for trying local dishes. There were plenty of pools and sunbeds, though they filled up quickly and some guests reserved them early. The private beach was a great alternative, with very comfortable beds and easy towel changes. Entertainment was fantastic-special shout-out to Bruno Mars & Friends and The Drifters. Cocktails were amazing, especially the signature cocktails, though the bar could get busy in the evenings, sometimes leading to long waits. Be aware the hotel is quite spread out with many steps, so it may not suit everyone with mobility issues. Overall, a wonderful stay-we would definitely return. Thanks to everyone at Dimitri Beach for making our holiday special!

"Throughly enjoyable stay 10/10"

10.0

We stayed in the beachfront bungalow which was stunning!! Had a perfect view of the sea, was very clean and had all the facilities you expect. It was cleaned every morning to a very high standard, with bottles of water always supplied, fresh towels and bathrobe/slippers. Food in general wasn’t 5* and sometimes limited on some evenings. The themed nights on paper seemed a good idea, however the food was pretty much the same on every ‘themed’ night. The à la carte restaurant was a bit disappointing, a nice idea but the food was you could tell was variation on food from the main restaurant, I wouldn’t recommend going out you way to book this. Entertainment was good, but not spectacular. The area gets very busy even before the entertainment begin, causing issues to find a seat at peak time, and even harder to get a drink. Once entertainment was finished at 10:30ish, the Veranda just fell flat and had no atmosphere, no music and just have the feeling the night had just finished. The staff overall were very welcoming and inviting, you could visibly see that they were overwhelmed at busy time, but always tried their best to accommodate you. The service manager (George) really made our stay memorable, as he was very attentive and friendly towards us. Would always come and stay hi and check if we needed anything. The rapport that we built with George made us really feel like valued guests, and felt more like saying a goodbye to a friend when we were leaving. Also a mention to Dom & Mark behind the bar at the Veranda on an evening. After spending most nights up there, was very clear to see that they were absolutely non stop all night making cocktails/drinks, but always did it with a smile and always tried their hardest to get you your drink to you as soon as. Would 100% recommend booking a beachfront bungalow, the view was spectacular and allowed us to sunbath right outside our room instead of the pool. However from wherever you was in the hotel, the view was beautiful and never got boring. From Leo & Lauren

"Very Good Hotel with Stunning Views, but Not Quite a Luxury Experience"

8.0

We had a very enjoyable stay at Dimitra Beach Hotel and would rate it 4 out of 5 stars. The hotel is well maintained, nicely laid out, and enjoys stunning views across the Aegean Sea. We were upgraded to a beachfront bungalow, which was excellent. The room was well appointed, the private terrace was lovely, and the sea views were spectacular. The pools are excellent and the grounds are attractive throughout. Staff were friendly and professional, although generally a little functional rather than engaging. Special mention to Iryna, who was consistently warm, smiley and approachable. One criticism is that the hotel can feel a little rigid. For example, the pool bar closes at 5:30pm even when guests are still relaxing around the pool. Greater flexibility around opening times would improve the all-inclusive experience. While the hotel is very well kept, it lacks a few touches that would elevate it to a more luxurious level. There is no room service, and drinks must be ordered at the bar rather than from your sun lounger. In addition, used drink cups were often left around the pool area for long periods and could be seen blowing around in the wind. The buffet offers plenty of variety and the dining area is beautiful. The food itself was generally good, but often not quite hot enough. On the other hand, the drinks were excellent. The house wines and beers were very good, while the Piña Colada and Mango Spicy Margarita were genuinely outstanding. Evening entertainment was enthusiastic and enjoyable enough, although not particularly my thing. Evening drinks service could be slow when busy, with waits of up to 30 minutes, so I’d recommend ordering ahead. Overall, this is a very good resort in a beautiful location. With slightly warmer food, more flexible service and a few extra guest-focused touches, it could easily become a five-star experience.

"Came for the sunshine and left with a stomach bug."

4.0

I have just returned from a week's stay at this hotel and will not be returning. The day before flying back home I came down with a sickness bug. It became severe enough that we had to call a doctor out to the room because I was unable to keep any fluids down and was extremely dehydrated. The doctor confirmed that I have gastroenteritis, which was likely caused by either food or drink consumed at this hotel. The doctor advised I should come into the clinic to be put on an IV and would need to stay there for 2 days but as my flight was due the next day I declined and paid €350 for assessment and medication to treat it. Pros: - Beautiful setting with amazing views. - Great location directly on the beach. - Comfortable beds and spacious rooms. - The evening entertainment was excellent and provided something enjoyable every night. We particularly enjoyed the Greek night. - The aqua gym sessions during the day were great fun and a real highlight of the holiday. - Some of the staff were very friendly, welcoming and eager to help whenever they could. - We had a 2 bedroom family suite (room 825) and cannot fault the room at all. It was spacious and the cleaners were great. Cons: - The biggest issue was the difficulty in getting drinks. The hotel either appears to be understaffed or does not have enough bars open for the number of guests staying. At peak times, getting a drink by the pool or during the evening entertainment could involve very long waits. - Water availability was surprisingly poor. Three of us were given just one small bottle of water each per day, and there were no refill stations available around the resort. We found ourselves having to contact housekeeping daily to request additional water, which often felt like an inconvenience. This was even worse when I came down with the stomach bug because I needed more water to actually flush it out of my system but it felt like a battle each time. - The hotel only seemed to have one main area in the evening for entertainment so you’d have to get up there early otherwise you won’t have a seat. - At the buffet, many dishes did not have their own serving tongs. Guests were regularly using tongs from one dish to serve food from another, effectively cross-contaminating multiple dishes. In addition, when no serving utensils were available, this inevitably encouraged some guests to use their hands to serve themselves. This was extremely concerning, particularly as there appeared to be little consideration given to allergies, food hygiene, and the potential risks this could pose. - While some members of staff were very friendly and helpful, I would say the majority came across as quite cold and unwelcoming. The girl making drinks at the pool bar inside the à la carte restaurant often looked unhappy and as though she did not want to be there. However, I cannot fully fault the staff for this. From what we observed, the working environment appeared quite toxic. On several occasions we saw Georgio speaking to the waiter and bar staff in a rude and belittling manner in front of guests, which created a very uncomfortable atmosphere. I generally felt sorry for the staff because they were extremely hard working and witnessing this on multiple occasions during a 1 week trip was extremely shocking. If he is like that with them in-front of guests I dread to think what he is like with them when no guests are around. Overall, the beginning of our trip was positive thanks to the beautiful surroundings, comfortable accommodation and excellent entertainment. However, improvements to staffing levels, drink service, food hygiene practices and water availability would make a significant difference to the overall guest experience.
