"Very good hotel"

10.0

The hotel is right on the lake, with beautiful views. The hotel was comfortable, we had a room at the back of the hotel which was quiet. The food in the hotel was very good, with ample choices. The staff were very friendly especially Massimo, the sommelier. I would certainly return to this hotel

"Excellent"

8.0

We overall enjoyed our stay at the hotel. Incidentally, they overbooked and we were upgraded to their most senior suite, so that was a very pleasant surprise. The hotel is old and perhaps a little bit dated, but clean and super conveniently located right across the street from the ferry terminal. There’s a bar downstairs that seemed to have a live performer every night, so that was a nice touch, however, we ended up not staying long because the drinks were pretty overpriced. I think we would stay in this hotel again solely based on the location, but might choose other options nearby if they were more affordable and have more amenities to offer.

"A Very Pleasant Stay .... apart from the food !"

8.0

Pros: We stayed a week in this hotel and had a very comfortable time. We upgraded to a room with a terrace and lake view and are pleased we did because other people had some dreadful rooms if they didn't book a balcony at least. Our king size bed was very comfortable and with a quilt each and we sat out on our terrace enjoying the fabulous views to Bellagio. Towels were one each and a white tea towel - heaven knows why as there was no tea /coffee making facilities and also very few plugs. We were lucky with 1 each side of the bed. All the staff in the hotel were lovely and I must mention Dilup from Sri Lanka who went the extra mile and had such a lovely smile. Breakfast was very good, especially the freshly made omelettes. The ferry stop directly across the road was a real bonus. Cons: the evening meal was dire - like old fashioned school dinner or a meal served in a care home. Tasteless antipasti the same every night with just a few changes - nice shrimps in sauce two nights but very limited. The mail meal was just awful and we skipped it most nights and had antipasti, soup and dessert which was always ice-cream and something else: strudel or cheesecake. Last night's meal was always available next morning at breakfast ! The swimming pool - I love a swim every day but not only was this pool the coldest I have ever entered but it is up 25 stone steps to reach it. I really think the hotel should give a warning about that for people thinking of booking. The other thing was that our shower was over the bath but in the middle of the bath and it was impossible to stop the floor flooding ! There are a lot of coach parties stay here and there were 4 in during our stay so the dining room and bar was crowded as was the lift. There has to be other ways than wearing a coloured wrist band all week to identify type of booking. That is very naff for adults and we felt like children at a theme park. Would we stay here again ? Yes if I could be sure of having a room with a large terrace facing the lake - but we would definitely just want bed and breakfast next time and eat out. On the whole as a 3* star it is a decent place to stay in a convenient location.

"Terrible Hotel. Terrible food."

4.0

Stayed at this hotel as part of a package with Riviera travel, Lake Como and Bernina Express. Disappointed that Riviera chose this hotel as there are many better hotels in the area with lake views and easy access to the Lake. The tour was excellent but the hotel was not. The Hotel fronts the lake but there is a busy main road in between. The Hotel is best described as tired, our room, a lake view, was filled with old furniture and poorly equipped. Walls and ceiling covered in trunking everywhere, uncomfortable and old fashioned. Bedding was two singles pushed together with single duvets with cheap uncomfortable pillows Air conditioning noisy. The pool, outside on the third floor was small, not clean with old and damaged furniture. Poorly maintained and closely overlooked by surrounding houses with a good view of their washing. Not welcoming or pleasant. The food was the greatest disappointment as being described as a family run hotel we expected authentic fresh Italian food. Unfortunately not the case and is best described as terrible as is the restaurant and optional pizzas. All processed, tinned or frozen. Every night and morning the same buffet food repeated. On the positive though the staff were amazing, attentive and looked after us well, Rooms were cleaned every day with changed sheets and towels. There is a bar area but there is nowhere to sit quietly and relax. I would recommend the tour but not with this hotel.

"Nice hotel. Shame about the food."

4.0

Hotel ideally situated. Had room with terrace. Was lovely. Staff were great. Food awful. Such a shame. It’s the only thing that let the hotel down. It was compared to ‘school dinners’, ‘hospital food’, ‘care home meals’. Breakfast was ok. Dinner was not an experience we looked forward to. Would definitely stay at the hotel again but eat out.

"Enjoyable stay at the hotel"

10.0

We had a very enjoyable stay at the hotel. The rooms were very clean, staff friendly and helpful. The breakfast and evening meal were a delight, good quality and incredible choice. Maximo the wine waiter was full of fun and you could tell he enjoyed his work with enthusiasm and a skip in his step. The location is excellent with a large terrace overlooking the Lake and easy access to the ferry which can take you to various destinations on Lake Como. I'll be back, a delightful stay.

"Wonderful holiday at Bazzoni."

10.0

Just back from two great weeks at this lovely hotel. Rooms not fancy but were Immaculate with bed linen and towels changed daily. Food was good. Plenty of choice at buffet breakfast and waiter service for 4 course meal in evening. (If you could manage it.) waiters attentive and immaculately turned out. Beautiful location and so handy for buses and ferries. Plenty of outdoor seating. Pleasant evening entertainment, too. Great value for such an expensive area. Couldnt fault it.

"The good, the bad and the ugly!"

4.0

Where to start with our week long stay at the Hotel Bazzoni? Lets start with the good of which there was some things to like! Location! In terms of Tremezzo, it does not get much better! Right on the lake, close to transport links, good few restaurants close by. The hotel has a lot of Sri Lankan restaurant staff, who I have to say were absolutely brilliant. Really friendly and good at their jobs. They are an absolute credit to the hotel as was the cleaning lady, she was brilliant! The bad....as good as the waitors are, the food at dinner is absolutely diabolical. If you are going here expecting to eat authentic Italian food, think again. Dinner menu is almost exclusively catered for British and Irish OAPs. Bland boiled veg with a bland meat or fish, nothing seasoned and almost everything over or undercooked. The antipasti is exactly the same options every night. The breakfast is basic but decent. The pizza option upstairs is like eating a budget £1 pizza from Lidl or Iceland. The ugly.... where to start with our allocated room 418.....god help you if you are allocated this room. I booked this trip through a travel agent, I wasn't aware or told at time of booking there was multiple room types. My advice DO NOT book a standard room at this hotel unless you are on a strict budget! Make sure to book a room with a balcony. Our room was not much bigger than a prison cell. The view from the window was the fire escape stairs, it was one of only 2 rooms I could see with single glazing so during the thunderstorms at night it felt like a bomb was going off in your room. The shower cubicle was clearly designed for children it was that small. They give you a book in the room outlining features of room and hotel. They advertise 2 types of aircon controls and how to change temperature but thats not what you get in room 418 or any standard room. You get a centrally controlled unit which you cant change the temperature on and seemed to blow out cold air in daytime and hot air at night which made sleeping very uncomfortable. We tried to change room and offered to pay for a different catagory but were told hotel was full. We were on a tour group with 17 other people and the feedback was similar. Standard rooms awful and too hot, balcony rooms decent! I am not that fussy when it comes to rooms but when you consider most Premier Inns in the UK are 3 star then Bazzoni standard rooms are a 1 star by UK standards. A Premier Inn looks like the Ritz compared to this place! In a 3 star abroad you expect a decent shower and an AC unit you can control as a bare minimum. The other thing to be mindful of when booking this hotel is the age demographic staying here. We are both in our 40s but the hotel was almost exclusively over 60s so if you are expecting a lively vibe this may not be the hotel for you! This hotel with some investment to modernise the rooms and elevating the dining experience could easily be amazing due to its location and its staff but I feel they know it will sell regardless as there is not that many 3 star options in the area!

"Wonderful option on Como. "

The cafe bar area was wonderful in the evenings. The morning buffet was awesome and unexpected for Italy. Great little villages nearby and convenient.
