"A great place to stay!"

10.0

I don’t know why previous reviews have been so scathing - we had a great experience! The staff are wonderful - very polite and friendly. We really liked the feel of the hotel - being authentically traditional Italian, rather than a soulless, modern box. Yes, the rooms are on the snug side, but as you spend most of your time with your eyes shut asleep in them, this really wasn’t a problem - they were clean and comfortable. The food was absolutely fine - plenty of choice, we stayed a week and every night in the main restaurant offered something different, the pasta courses were our favourite. Breakfast offered everything you could want - cereal, fruit, meats, cheese, salad, bread rolls, toast, croissants, yogurts, bacon, 3 types of eggs and the cappuccinos were excellent! The bar was superb - staff wonderful, and cocktails great! Do not be put off by the negative reviews - it really is a nice place to stay!

What a beautiful place to visit. Our room had a balcony overlooking the lake. Staff are very friendly. It would be nice to have better pillows. Small issue. We had the best time!

"Good tour shame about the hotel "

2.0

We arrived at 11pm on a Riviera tour the room we were given was tiny could hardly get round the bed the large TV was in a perilous position and my wife banged her head on it there was a constant noise from plumbing all night .next day we complained and were given a better room although the shower was very small.Food at the hotel was terrible breakfast consisted of the very cheapest items although the coffee was acceptable evening meals were no better. We tried the N26 restaurant which was better but inconsistent quality. Our best meal was at a local restaurant. Apart from that the staff were very good and every where was clean

"Below average"

4.0

Stayed here during a Shearings holiday to Lake Como. Our room overlooking the lake had a lovely view from a balcony that was furnished with a table and two chairs. There was no double glazing but noise from the restaurant below died out at nighttime. There was some road noise too but that also faded out at night. However, noise from traffic and deliveries did start again very early, sometimes around 4 or 5. The room was a decent size for two adults. A mini fridge and free water was included but although there was a TV it didn’t have any UK channels – despite a leaflet saying that it did. The aircon was very effective at cooling the room down. The wifi worked but could be slow at busy times. Pillows were thin but the bed was comfortable. The bathroom however was old and shabby. The shower was over the bath. The pressure was very weak and the floor was extremely slippery. You will need to ask for a bath mat asap because everybody needs one and they run out quickly. The cramped space and low shower head means that you will have to crouch down to shower if you are over 5’9”. There is one skinny shelf for toiletries and a bidet that unnecessarily takes up space. It was difficult to shave because of the low position of the shelf and the fact that the plug didn’t fit the sink, allowing the water to run away. I had to have the tap constantly running. Towels are unnecessarily changed every day. The dining room has seating inside and out. The dining system is convoluted and contradictory. We were told it was a buffet and we should serve ourselves but it turned out that the small self-service buffet at the entrance to the dining room is limited to appetizers/antipasti, ie cold pasta, rice and cold cuts. The main (ie the hot food) is waiter served. This wasn’t made clear from the outset and so we incurred the wrath of the staff by entering a forbidden area of the room to get hot food, thinking that’s what we were supposed to do. Perversely, this zone is also where other cold salad items such as lettuce and tomatoes reside that guests are allowed to select. The lack of logic extends to breakfast, when you must enter the forbidden zone to order freshly made omelettes. At breakfast, too, you will find the butter in the fruit section, nowhere near the bread, the toaster and the jam. All very strange. There is a terrace overlooking the lake where pizza is served. The view is wonderful. You need to order your pizza in the morning at reception. We did this once. The pizzas were thin and the quality was so-so. The hotel food – especially classic Italian fare such as pizza, pasta and gnocchi - was generally not very good and choice was limited. This is surprising for an Italian eatery. I don’t know if that’s because they are running a tight budget or because few actual Italians seem to work there. The bottom line is, if meals aren’t included in your package you might want to eat out locally. Service at dinner is disorganised. Sometimes we were left for ages without being served or offered a drink. Other times, two or more waiters would try to take our orders. No-one seems to be in charge and there is no real system in place. We skipped breakfast. It really only caters for those who want to start their day with cakes, salami and bits of frankfurter. The orange juice was just plain horrible. The bar area is large and there is also seating outside. The all-inclusive options are limited but perfectly satisfactory for most people’s needs. We noticed that bar snacks such as crisps and olives tended to be lavished only on the guests who were not part of the all-inclusive package. Generally, the staff were hard working, pleasant and helpful (if slightly disorganised). However, one or two were a little surly. Situated half way up the lake, the Bazzoni is a useful base from which to explore the area. It’s easy to travel across the lake from nearby ferry stops, and to get into Como town on the bus. However, although the hotel serves its purpose as a base camp, it is no better than its three stars implies.

"Very poor"

The hotel is tired and in need of a refurb. The beds are worn out. The room's are very small but worse than that the food Is disgusting and very poor quality. We booked through Newmarket. Never again. The only thing going for the hotel is the view.

"Overall not great! Choice & quality food not great!!"

4.0

Stayed here as part of a group. Beautiful location with lakeview. Good location.Hotel spitless, waiting staff and staff cleaning rooms all lovely. Staff on front desk not so warm and friendly. Worst part of stay was selection and quality of food. Very poor choice. No butter for toast just soft cheese or choc spread or honey. Selection of cereals very bad and also poor quality. If you like fried breakfast forget it. It hasnt been invented here yet. Also juices bad quality just tinned fruit cocktail. Packet pancakes, food all seemed to be just bought in. No fresh fruit. Dinners horrible, not bad choice if you like pasta with everything. There was a choice of pizza in another restaurant upstairs but these were like frozen pizzas just heated up. We ate out in restaurant down road most days. Overall needs major improvement especially if you are from U.K or Ireland. Not up to our sandards or basically any other european hotels e.g. Spain Wouldnt stay here again. Have stayed in way better 3 star hotels

"Comfortable hotel in the central lake area"

6.0

Hotel was in a very good location in the central part of the lake near the ferry terminal. Room felt a little small and bathroom was smaller than I am used to. There was lots of choice at breakfast and staff serving were very friendly. Reception staff were less helpful and it seemed strange that there was no secure area for left baggage. Hotel building has been around for many years so air conditioning and lift were not as effective as they could have been. At this level of rating we should not be surprised that little extras like pool towels and umbrellas had to be paid for. One day we had heavy rain and didn't find a suitable place in the hotel to sit and enjoy the view of the rain over the lake, It was annoying that towels were changed every day and open supplies were removed (soap, shower gel, toilet roll etc) as this was not good for the environment.
