American Inn and Suites Dundee

Stacey, Elaine, and Theresa were wonderful to us. The rest of the staff, not so much. There are not enough maids to clean, and the construction workers that stay there are horribly messy. The property is NOT ADA compliant. All they needed to do was save one or two rooms on the first floor for us with canes, but NO they gave all those rooms to the healthy construction workers. There was no elevator, so the poor lady at the desk with MS had to lug my luggage up the stairs since I couldn't since I was using a cane. I asked for a rubber bath mat for the shower so I wouldn't slip and fall, so they gave me a cloth towel...The tub was too high for a little old lady to climb over and there was only a grab bar on the wall farthest from the shower head. There should have also been one on the back wall and the wall by the shower head. They are just asking for a lawsuit when someone gets hurt and ends up sueing them. They need to get their act together, learn about customer service (when the TV went out and the message on it says if having problems see the front desk, so I did. The lady there basically told me it wasn't her problem, that she knew nothing about cable tv cause she didn't have it at home nor the internet (do I hear dueling banjos playing?)) No concern, nor saying that she would make inquiries. Customer service? What is that? Don't stay here, it is understaffed and the owner is basically a slumlord.

Room was huge comfy beds clean. Breakfast had cereals and some sugary treats..a limited continental. Evening and morni g staff(pat) were friendly

Very uncomfortable, found mold in bathroom tub, very dirty and mold behind commode. Unusual odor in room. Staff answered questions but seemed to be uninterested in being friendly. There was a bench outside that the back was broken off and in 2 pieces creating an unsafe area for anyone. I did not eat there so can’t say anything about the food.

We had requested downstairs room but arrived later & were told they were all gone. Common areas were not clean eg laundry & stairwells. Corridors smelt of food & 1 of our rooms had red hair dye on the floor that looked like blood.

Bed bug on sheet, shower needs a comet scrubbing, shower vent hanging, things growing on walls not sure what they are, not enough towels, front desk staff knows nothing but she is friendly, and do you all think the outside really looks good?

The room was dirty and smelled awful. We couldn't even stay. After we left, our clothes still smelled like the room for a couple hours even though we were only in the room minutes.

When we arrived we saw undated signs about a water disruption and active boil order on the door, so they recommended bottled water for drinking and brushing teeth but provided none. When we asked the desk staff about it, they said it was lifted and the signs should have been taken down, which was inaccurate and dangerous information since the boil order was still in effect. In the morning there was no hot water and no coffee or juice in the breakfast area. In addition, the doors to outside were also propped open with signs asking not to do that since it was against fire code, and the room was poorly maintained although reasonably clean. When we chose to check out early after one day of our three day stay, we found out that the boil order remained in effect so the night staff had misinformed us and the hotels water system was damaged by the disruption leading to no hot water. The hotel had already charged our credit card for the entire stay and denied our request for a refund made with the assistance of Travelocity staff of the remaining unused two days of our stay, even though they had unsafe conditions with inadequate accommodation for their guests and poorly informed night staff. We will never stay here again even though we had stayed before and found the hotel acceptable in the past.
