Glacier View Lodge

Location and most staff. One supervisor did not deal with our issue appropriately- no apology and simply ‘gaslighting’ us.

We had an enjoyable stay here until we were by a young guy supervising bus arrivals. We happened to walk the wrong way but were already at the door to the hotel and perfectly safe. There were no signs saying no pedestrians. He abused us at the top of his voice in front of queues of people and then tried to justify his abuse to those standing around. We were totally shocked and very upset , We’d just had a great morning on the glacier and we are now totally upset. We could not believe that our peace could have been so badly disrupted. Could he not have not come over to us calmly and explained the situation. The thing is we were safe and we would never be back. So why did he bother? As guests of the hotel, we felt very badly treated. The employee in question initially did not show us due respect and towards the end of his tirade towards us and others waiting for a bus, I let him know that we were unhappy with his behaviour.

Stunning hotel with amazing views of the Athabasca glacier. Gorgeous luxurious hotel, beautiful rooms and oh so comfy beds. The view from the lounge with complimentary drinks is breathtaking 💕 Ate at the altitude restaurant, the food was delicious, definitely try the Kofts starter and the lamb and short rib mains, our server was Geraldine and she could not have been more attentive and informative. A special experience worth every penny💕

I thought this was an absolutely fantastic experience. Yes, it wasn't inexpensive and should have maybe included a free breakfast (maybe) - the hotel is super clean, the rooms are big, the views are unbeatable and the staff were so great. My only point of constructive feedback would be the fact that you can't control the temperature in your room which (for us) left the room way to hot for my confort.

The hotel was pretty good, but the location was definitely a cut above! Rooms were spacious and well appointed, everything being fairly new and modern. There were a couple of glitches though - the USB chargers built in to the side tables did not work, and the shower was a bit temperamental (water pressure and temperature varying without warning). The fabulous setting put all this in the shade though. Even though our room did not look directly on to the glacier, the view was still awe inspiring and it was fabulous being able to walk across the road to do the 'toe of the glacier' hike. The hotel restaurant was pleasant but, as a gluten intolerant person, I would have loved to have more eating options. Overall we had a very enjoyable stay.

What a great experience and the view of the glacier from the lodge was spectacular. The dining at Altitude was delicious and our server Michelle was outstanding. Great atmosphere at this special accommodation.

Clean, comfortable, and quiet...

Nice hotel with nice views. They can charge what they like because they are the only hotel beside the glacier. Not sure about all the rooms, but the ones on my side of the building had a beautiful view of the glacier. The night we checked in we went on the organised Skywalk and the following morning we took the trip to the glacier. Both were well organised, although I found all the "I'm so excited to show you....' and 'are you excited?' a bit much, but that is probably a cultural issue and maybe the Canadians and Americans liked it. If you go at the height of the tourist season, it might be worth the cost because you get priority access to the Skywalk and the Galcier. We were a small group and had it all to ourselves. If I was doing it again I'd stay in the Crossing Hotel. It's a nice, clean hotel but not nearly as luxurious as the Glacier View Lodge. They're both very quiet at night and it's possible to get a great night's sleep. The Crossing Hotel is about a 45 minute drive from the glacier, but it is only a quarter of the price of the Glacier Lodge.
